scrooge, did you manage to resist temptation from alcohol this month? I'm sure you did - you are so disciplined. Are you going for another AF month in July? Well done on getting that toned stomach you sure do deserve it with all the exercise you have been getting through this month. I really must get more disciplined this month so as well as doing the daily Shred, I'm going to do yoga twice a week, play squash and cut down on my portion sizes. I have never dieted in the past so not really good at calorie counting or keeping a check on how much I eat. Can you recommend any threads that will keep on track? I checked out sparkpeople on your recommendation and am thinking about registering. How are you getting on with it? I need all the help I can get!

wilf, wow you sure have got a few things on your list but as scrooge says once it is written down you can work on a few things at a time until .. hey presto... all done! Hope you have had a productive day. I'm in awe that you manage to get things done when you have so many golfing appointments - you are more organised than you think. You definitely deserve a pat on the back :T.

Whilst thinking about what I would like to achieve in July, I had a little panic attack at the amount of things that I really need to get done. Decided that there is only so much I can do so have simplified it in order to give myself a bit of encouragement rather than demotivate myself. I have not listed the everyday things but if I start not getting them done then I will have to be detailed in my daily list. OK I am rambling so here goes:-

    July Goals

    - Redirection emails/letters
    - Call Uncle Thomas
    - Call Barbados
    - Call the girls in New York
    - Complete 30 days of The Shred
    - Valet car
    - Start on garage clearance
    - MSE forum post up-to-date
    - De-clutter bedroom - clothes, shoes, toilettries, books, dvds

    - Lose 4lb
    - Paint fingernails in colour not usual clear
    - Continue with Life Coaching course
    - Set up proper filing system
    - De-clutter cupboards
    - 20 NSDs
    - Look into meditation classes

Hi Micron, it's great to hear from you and your enthusiasm is contagious.

You are right 'The Shred' is not on my list and it should be, I can't fall at the final hurdle. I have actually been doing it just before I go to bed, but I want to get back to doing it in the mornings, this evening I will have done it for 30 straight days :T:T:T. Sad to say, I am quite enjoying it now, and I don't want to stop . Level 3 is manageable and I am regaining my figure, which had been totally disguised with a very thick layer of lard.

I haven't touched alcohol all month and I am in two minds about whether to stop completely or keep with the 22 AF days target and sticking within recommended health limits, that I have been doing since March. In reality, I have drunk on only a dozen or so occasions since March, and each time it has only been a glass or two of wine.

I am concerned that if I was to give it up completely it would assume the importance of 'forbidden fruit' and I would crave it.

I think alcohol to me is like food, time management, money and stress levels, if I don't continually keep on top of all these areas, they creep out of control. I am not sure I will ever be able to leave this challenge, but at least I have found a way of monitoring things that works for me and that I enjoy :rotfl:.

When I started this challenge, about a year ago, it was because I was a chronically disorganised, overweight, procrastinator who felt totally overwhelmed, as every area of my life was spinning out of control, and I was using drink to cope with the chaos. If I can get a handle on things anyone can!!

I am sure you are in a much better place than I was :)

    Hi there again,

I have just been looking at your goals for the month and they seem really balanced, there are things just for you in there which is great.

I am still trying to work out the right food combination for me that results in weight loss and feeling good, and i'm not there yet. I have tried just about everything though over the last year.

I have been losing weight, but very slowly considering the amount of effort I have put in. When I have figured out the secret, you will be the first to know :rotfl:.

I like Sparkpeople, because I can put my weight in there each morning and track it and also there is a private journal in there that you can type in what you eat, your energy levels etc and how you are feeling, which I have found useful, from all the data I hope to see a pattern emerging.

I once worked as an Analyst, so I love spreadsheets and data :rotfl:.

Below is the DFW weight loss thread, which I have joined. Lou and the other members are lovely and supportive, you would be welcomed.

    Hi Wilf,

I agree with Micron. You have a full time job as DS's Personal Golfing Assistant, along with all your other responsiblities. You do really well.

How is DS playing? Has his injury completely healed?

    Take care.

    hi all

his hand is not completely healed and i am worried about it but feel it is now compensatory pain rather than pain from the injury itself

however, his golf is going suprisingly well and he has his first major competition on sunday, then off to kent for his next major one, we travel on the friday and the comp is tues wed and thursday

if he does well this season he will be in the england u16 team come september

anyway need to get things done and most of all the house every room needs decorating and cleaning thoroughly apart from bath and toilet, they are clean but need decorating

find i work better with a plan but do struggle sticking to it!!

Thought i would pop in and say hello. We are having a really good time so far on the holiday. Spent a little more than planned but as the MIL gave us some cash, we are doing ok.

I feel like i am being so lazy. I've managed to read a book and do a bit of my knitting. I am going to enjoy it though as i have a feeling i will need to hit the ground running again next week and that the house may need a full spring clean once the dust settles from the bathroom/boiler work. I don't think it will all be finished by the time we get home, so hopefully we won't be disrupted for too long. We've planned to come home on Sunday, so i guess we will assess the damage then.

scrooge - congrats to your DS on his prize.

wilf - sorry to hear your son has been injured. First i had heard of it. Not good in his game, although it doesn't sound like it has put him off much at all.

micron - you sound a lot better after being ill. You will probably find it easier to keep up with yourself in July with a list. I found it really helped me get my head round stuff this month.

Right, my bed is calling, so i will see you all next week i am sure.

Hi michelle, that's so nice of you to pop in to say hello whilst you are on holiday. I'm glad you are having a great time and don't worry about the spending you can get back on track when you are back at home.

Be as lazy (although I would prefer to say laid back) as you want to as you know it will be all go once you get back to your routine.

Yes I am feeling much better and am definitely going to take some inspiration from all of you and start working and actually doing things off my list.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday and see you next week.
