Wilf, sorry to hear about your son's hand but thank goodness it is on the mend and not affecting his game. That would be absolutely wonderful news when (not if) he starts to play for the England u16 team. What an achievement.
Hope you managed to get something nice to entertain you and get rid of your boredom last night. Don't worry too much about the housework it sounds to me like you need a little bit of ME time to chill out.
scrooge, many thanks for the link to the weight loss thread, I'm going to join later on today. I need as much motivation as I can get. On your recommendation I am also going to try out Sparkpeople. I really appreciate your guidance during this somewhat "painful" journey of losing weight. You really have done fantastically in the month of June and I am sure July will be even more successful. Big congrats :T:T:T:Ton doing 30 days of the Shred. It is encouraging to hear you say that you are actually starting to find it a lot easier and enjoying doing it. I look forward to the day I can say the same. Not sure how long it will take me to get there but I'll get their especially with all the support offered on this forum.
I think you deserve some more plaudits for your AF month. :j:j:j:T Re having 22 days AF is a great idea that way you are not depriving yourself and won't feel that craving one can get when you are not allowed to have something. Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you. You could always alternate no AF months with 22 days AF. Every other month might be more of a compromise.
I had an inkling that you loved spreadsheets and data just by all the percentages and detail you post. Seeing the percentages going up sure is great motivation to continue.
Anyway, I had better get a few hours still so I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed to start The Shred again and tackle my list.
Have a great day everyone.

Morning all,
It's great to hear from you cha, you are sounding really chilled and relaxed.
I have finished 30 Days of 'The Shred' and the results are as follows:-
May 31st 2010 June 30th 2010
Bust - 38.5" Bust - 37.0"
Waist - 33" Waist - 31.0"
Hips - 38.5" Hips - 37.0 "
Belly - 37" Belly - 34.0"
Thigh - 35" Thigh - 35.0"
BMI - 26 BMI - 24
BFI - 17 BFI - 15
Age 44 Age 44
Weight 11 stone 3lb. Weight 10 stone 13lb
Height 5' 6" Height 5' 6"
Size 14 Size 12
Fitness level - good Fitness level - very high
At the start I found level one very challenging although I regularly go to the gym and am very active. By the end I found the full level 3 manageable and I was barely sweating, which I think is quite remarkable.
Overall verdict - if you want to lose 4-5 lb of fat, and an inch or two off most parts of your body and get very fit into the bargain then this will do it.
Plan for today and the month later, bye for now.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Review of June
1. Budget
I've prepared a budget, which is quite comfortable, so no excuses for not sticking to it!
Stuck to budget and savings plan.
2. Weight Loss
I lost 4lb last month and 9lb since the beginning of March so I am losing an average of 3lb a month. I will continue to stick with my diet and exercise plan and Lou's weight loss challenge. I have set a target of 14lb over the next 10 week challenge or 1.5lb a week. Obviously, if I continue doing things the same way as I am, I will not achieve the goal, so I need to do more exercise. Although I have intermitently done The Shred this month, I have not stuck with the programme, so in June the plan is to give it another wholehearted attempt. I will also aim for 22 AF days again, and I will stick with my daily food diary.
I lost 4lb and did 30 AF days instead of 22, and I managed 'The Shred' every day, so I am really pleased with the progress here.
3. New Business
- Logo completed
- Business cards finalised
- Headed paper finalised
- Licence applied for
- Website finalised
- Full pitch to client 1
- £270.00 of additional income
A few things to finish off here, but overall it is heading in the right direction.
4. Family and Friends
- Meet up with close friends at least once in June.
- Ensure DS and DH get quality time
- Call/e-mail mum and dad regularly in June
- Speak to sisters and cousins at least once in June
I feel this area has gone well this month, and I did everything I planned.
5. Flylady
The house has had a deep clean in May so in June I will do the Flylady weekly plan, to keep on top of it.
This area could do with some improvement. I need to become much more efficient with the housework, it still takes up too much time.
6. Nature and Culture
- Trip to the cinema with DS and DH
- Weekly cycle rides with DS and DH
- Read 'The Kite Runner'.
I have had a nice time with DS and DH, we have camped, been to the circus and had a bar-b-que in a country park, and gone on cycle rides. We will go to the cinema at the end of the month with my Tesco Cineworld vouchers.
I have started The Kite Runner, but I am also reading Cider With Rosie, The Alchemist and The Easy Way to Control Alcohol (finished). I am enjoying them all and should finish them all by the end of the month.
7. £10.00 a day challenge
- £100.00 extra from New Business - £275.00
- £150.00 extra from Mystery Shopping - £75.00
- £50.00 extra from BT complaint - £25.00
- £30.00 extra from ebay - £0.00
Total £350.00, so i've achieved the £10.00 a day target, though not in the way I intended.
8. Special Project
- 15 hours 10
- TW x 4 3
- BR/DT x 30 2
- MT x 4 0
- PS x 4 0
- TWA x 1 0
This area, which is to do with longer term plans, has continued to be neglected and needs more focus in July.
Overall, I'm really pleased with June.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Plan for July
1. Budget
I've prepared a budget, which is quite comfortable, so no excuses for not sticking to it!
2. Weight Loss
I have set a target of 4 lb weight loss in July. I will do this by completing another 30 days of 'The Shred' at level 3, and having at least 22 AF days.
I will track my food and fitness every day on Sparkpeople, to ensure that my weight continues to trend down and that I am eating and drinking correctly for health and well being.
3. New Business
- Licence applied for
- Website finalised
- Full pitch to client 1
- £150.00 of additional income
4. Family and Friends
- Meet up with close friends at least once in July.
- Ensure DS and DH get quality time
- Call/e-mail mum and dad regularly in July
- Speak to sisters and cousins at least once in July
5. Flylady
I am working out a schedule with DS, for housework, and we will track it for the month of July. He is helping me, and will be rewarded with extra pocket money.
6. Nature and Culture
- We are going camping at the end of July for a week
- We have visitors for the third week in July, so I will organise trips
- Trip to the Isle of May
- Two day sailing course on the Firth of Forth
- Finish Cider With Rose, The Kite Runner, Sophies World and Lord Jim.
7. £10.00 a day challenge
- £160.00 extra from New Business
- £150.00 extra from Mystery Shopping
8. Special Project
- 10 hours - SF
- TW x 4
- BR x 31
- DT x 31
- PS x 31
- MT x 4
- TWA x 1
Because this area is concerned with longer term plans it always gets neglected, so this month I will make it THE PRIORITY, I will do it first thing before anything else.
Have a great month.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Wow scrooge, your results for the month of June are absolutely fantastic! I am so impressed. You must be so pleased with yourself. All that hard work has paid off and now you are finding the Shred not only easier but fun as well. :T :T:j
You sure have motivated me to stick with the Shred throughout July. I completed Day 1 today and yep, I am still finding it difficult. I suppose I will get there at some stage in the future.
I had a quick look at Louise's weight loss thread and it looks like just the thing to help keep me on track. I'm going to have a good read (although I doubt I will ever catch up considering it is over 100 pages long!) and then subscribe so no doubt I'll meet up with you on that thread as well. I'm looking forward to it.Save £12k in 2017 #14

scrooge, looking at your goals for June you did very well. You sure did accomplish a lot. The system you use is obviously working for you. Your July goals looking promising as well. I do like the way you have categorised them for various aspects of your life to make sure you have a good balance. I do that for my yearly goals but tend not to for my monthly goals but I may have to consider that next month.
I noticed that you are also reading The Alchemist. How spooky that we are reading the same book at the same time. I bought my copy many years ago and just never got round to reading it. I have quite a few of Paulo Coelho's books. Talking about books that I have bought a while back and haven't read, I also have The Kite Runner on the book shelf and you have inspired me to read it next month (once I have finished the ones I am in the middle of reading).
Your sailing course sounds like lots of fun. July will be another busy and enjoyable month for you what with saling, camping and having visitors.Save £12k in 2017 #14

wilf, how are you doing today?
Good luck with your son's first major competition on Sunday. I'm sure he will be great and more importantly, I'm sure he will enjoy every second of it.
Please do let us know how he gets on.
Ciao for now
