    Good morning,

Yes, it sure is an early start for you this morning scrooge.

You must be a very proud mummy :j. Your DS has done so well to achieve such an award.

I agree with Wilf, you are so organised. I'm ashamed to say that I have lapsed so much recently that it is embarrassing. I am definitely going to have to take some tips from you. I must say, seeing how much you accomplish does inspire me to get off my bum and do! As usual you have lots on your list but I know you will achieve them.

After having a brief look it seems like I have got lots to catch up on in this thread. I'm going to read and respond as I go along otherwise my post will be too long (and no doubt boring for the rest of you!)

I'm so pleased that you have been keeping up with The Shred. The rest of my month fell by the wayside but I'm very keen to start again in July and yes, I am definitely up for the 66 day challenge.

wilf, I hope you are getting things crossed off your list. If not, I think scrooge may have to give us a little prod (or maybe I should say encouragement) to get us into gear.

Back soon, I'm off to read and post (hopefully).

    Enjoy your day everyone

Here's an interesting bit of research. 66 days appears to be the magic number . Who's up for a 66 day Shred challenge???????

How Long Does it Take an Action to Become a Habit; 21, 28, or 66 Days?

    By Kathryn Goetzke

So you start a lot of great new approaches, but they never seem to stick.

Ann Graybiel of MIT’s McGovern Institute has shown through research that neurons change their firing patterns when habits are learned, and then change them again when unlearned. However, as soon as something kicks back in the habit, they are fired back up. That is why it is so easy to pick back up negative addictions like smoking and drinking, but also why if you establish good habits but lose them, you can kick them back up much easier as well.

So how long does it take to establish habits? While the well established rule on habits is 21-28 days, the UK Health Behaviore Research Centre recently came out with research that found it took 66 days to form a habit. I would tend to agree with the latest research — if we can do something for 66 days straight, we can do it for a year, five, or thirty. 21 or 28 days seems to be just enough time to make it questionable, or make you confident but not be able to stick to it.

YEP I am definitely up for a 66 day Shred challenge. I am nowhere near as fit as you but I'm hoping to be! Surely The Shred has got to be a little bit easier this time around! I haven't lost any weight this month so really need to get my act together.

Scrooge I'll be picking your brains throughout the month on how to change my eating habits as I think just exercise is not going to do the job for me at this stage. I really must get rid of this middle age spread... its horrifying...

    Morning,

It's true that the worse jobs do get left until last, but because I keep seeing them on the list day after day, they do get tackled and the feeling of getting those jobs crossed off is the best of all.

Also, they are never as bad as I think they will be, so I end up wondering why it took me so long to do the job.

The most organised way of doing it would be worse jobs first (jobs I am most likely to procrastinate on), at a time of day when I have the most energy. I might try that. Thanks Wilf.

For the next week worse job 1 and 2 (or the jobs I am most likely to procrastinate on) will be highlighted in purple and will need to be done as early in the day as possible.

Outstanding To Do List - Items up to number 13 have to be done today.

OK, I am going to bite the bullet and start listing my daily/montly list of things to do. I only crossed off about a quarter of the things on my June list and I am determined for July not to be the same. I have always been a list maker but have started to procrastinate even more than usual. I acknowledge that I will always have lots to do on my list as there is alway something that needs doing or that I want to do... but it really is time to take action.

Scrooge, wilf and cha97, thanks for posting your lists as it is encouragement for me to get my act together and start getting things done. Please feel free to give me a good talking to if I start to lapse. Thanks again you are all absolutely brilliant :A
