New cooker hood is installed and electrics checked in the shed as our extra freezer has stopped a few times - anyway it was £15 well spent - just need to fix the new cooker dial as hubbie broke this last week.

All christmas presents wrapped and have begun to deliver. Hubbie finished buying my presents last night.

Hubbie has now advised me that his CC is missing - we have been discussing this over the last 2-3 days so he has cancelled this and as he is an additional cardholder to my CC then we have no CC until we get new one posted through. Hope they come through soon in case we need to use.

We have several more christmas parties to go to and daughter seems to be enjoying it now. Only 1/2 day left to work before christmas/New Year.

Well I cannot believe that its now christmas eve. We are mostly organised and looking forward to the events of tomorrow. Getting up to see daughter's expression on her presents, my family coming over in the morning for present swapping, then inlaws coming for dinner and present swapping and then finally friends at night. We have most things done ie made mince pies, sponge cakes, soup, defrosted the soup and started to make the trifle. The only other thing to do is wrap up the wee presents for daughters stocking.

Today we went to the local scot-mid for a few items, went sledging and cleared the driveway. Stayed in pm as it was too cold to go back out and did the baking.

relaxing in front of the tv at the moment with a few chocolates and a wee glass of wine - some pressie from work.

Hope you all have a great christmas and have a nice day tomorrow wherever you are.

Had a great day on Christmas and daughter loved all her toys and other bits and pieces from santa. She is so comical singing along with her CD player and microphone to nursery rhymes. Been to a few shops over the last few days but only bought some stuff for the house and of course a few items of clothes for daughter in the mothercare sale. Will need to go and have a proper look myself and see if I can buy my dad's birthday present in the sale.

Hubbie loved his present of a chocolate cookery course on a saturday night.

I got from a friend a ticket to go to see Strictly Dancing tour in Glasgow with her in february - very generous and good present.

Tonight daughter is staying with Nana and papa having fun whilst we visit friends for a indian takeaway and of course probably more drinks.

We hope to go bowling and visit friends this week whilst we are off on holiday and then it will be a very quiet hogmany night at home. We will see if I manage to stay awake for the bells.

All the best for 2010 to everyone to who reads this diary.

Last day of 2009 and we will see what 2010 holds for us.

We started off Jan 2009 at £67381.40 and our closing balance for Dec 2009 is £60796.04 which is below the £61000 I was hoping for. We managed to overpay £4135 which is much better than expected and we have increased the overpayments every year and hopefully we can continue with this.
    2006 £1050
    2007 £2700
    2008 £4100
    2009 £4135

OVERALL WE HAVE MANAGED TO PAY OFF £6585.36 FOR THE YEAR OF 2009.

I am fairly happy we are increasing our monthly overpayment by £100 per month from January since we have hubbie's car paid off and the remaining money is going into savings.

Hubbie has also started to look on internet at houses - a bit early as we have to make over daughters bedroom and living room before we even consider putting up for sale and looking. Anyway showed him figures and he was not too happy that any other mortgage we take out will be at least 5.5% - not much we can do about this.

2010 aim is to overpay hopefully £4500 and put in more into savings so that we can try to have more deposit rather than just the equity of the sale of this house.

We have been out at friends today and it was nice for a catch up and daughter played with their boys. Tonight we have a quiet night in and tomorrow off to parents house for steak pie.

Was able to buy all my christmas cards, some wrapping paper, gift tags, bows etc for next christmas as well as a few pressies for daughter. So I have her easter present in and she may get one present a week on monday when she goes for swine flu jag - not looking forward to this and hope that she is a brave wee soldier.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE AND HOPE 2010 IS GOOD TO US ALL:beer:

Managed to get to town this morning before going to work in the afternoon and made January's overpayment of £350. This will probably be it for January as we have to live on just the money in the bank account.

Phoned CC company yesterday to find out where our new cards were (hubbie had his stolen and phoned to advised them) they had the phone note on their system but no-one cancelled our cards or re-issued new cards. Luckily it has not been used and they have instructed for new cards to come which will take at least a week.

Hated driving back from work (roads mainly clear but there is still ice around) and water is frozen so its hard to drive with muddy windscreen. If weather the same at weekend then we will walk round to the local co-op for bare essentials.

Temperature is dropping dramatically according to the news over the next few days so we have looked our the hot water bottle to heat up the bed.

Well we have made a decision that we will be moving house this year and hubbie wants to start to do our homework soon so that we put the house on the market March time prior to voting. I was hoping to hold off until at least mid March as I know it will take several months to sell. I just hope that we get a reasonable price for it and that we can find a nice 3 bed somewhere with a garage.

When this does happen the overpayments will certainly be reduced and will not be able to achieve 2010 target but we will be in a bigger house which is the plan.

Query for anyone reading this should I still continue to overpay £350 a month until we move and put a bit of money in savings for more of a deposit or put all the money into savings until we move.

Anyone have any idea what amount we require for selling fees, EA fees etc. Trying to figure this out and see if we have enough in our savings at the moment.

We were going to repaint daughter's room and living room but have been advised not to bother if we are selling. Do you agree. There are a few marks about and also by the front door.

  • Hi Lynn, all the best with the house move :j. This is probably a silly question but why do you want to sell the house before the election, do you feel it will effect house prices?. Estate agents here (N.Ireland) usually charge about 1% plus an initial fee for a sign, brochures and advertising of about £200, but it may be different where you live. Personally i wouldnt bother repainting the rooms unless the marks are really obvious, i think the most important things are that the house is clean, tidy, decluttered and with no obvious smells.........i have viewed some really awful houses.....:rotfl::rotfl:. Anyway goodluck with your overpayments in the meantime and i hope it all works out for you :D.
