Bleughhhhh, fffffft bleughhhhh. Roughly translated this means I've been up since 4 with severe tummy pains so bad I was passing out and had to get down on the bathroom floor to 10 /15 mins to stay safe. All delightful drug side effects:mad: . The plus side is at the mo I feel like I never want to eat again. In fact for one reason and another the last 24 hrs have been pants.
Haven't weighed this morning. Beyond caring at the mo:o . Lying in bed with laptop. So a STS please raph.

Poor BB, hope you feel better soon! Have a nice warm :coffee: and an even warmer group :grouphug:.

  • mambury i'd second nmm, a wii fit is fun. my only thing with it is that after a few months i wasn't getting that great a workout off it - i need something that would raise my heartrate and there was nowhere else to go with the wiifit so i invested in an exercise dvd which i've had less than a week and am really enjoying. However, whilst i have moved on from wiifit, OH has not moved on from mariokart so the console is not gathering dust. try not to get despondent, I sometimes find it gets me down, but at the end of the day, your start weight doesn't mean anything until you get to your target weight. You are taking action, thats what counts!

Marion, yesterdays menu sounds lush! I love chicken thighs, we use them all the time now. They are such a faff to skin and bone but the flavour is better and they are so much cheaper! Unforunately my butcher doesn't do them as a rule, he does frozen legs and I hate drumsticks so i don't get them. I buy a big pack from the supermarket, then skin and bone and freeze them in portions. It takes AGES but I feel so virtuous when i've done it.

Thanks KPC, I much prefer the thigh myself although my husband doesn't. He says he is a breast man all the way. Boy is he ever going to be disappointed when I get to goal! :rotfl::o. By the way the thighs cooked very well on the Forman grill, didn't stick at all!

I love chicken thighs too, It IS a faff deboning them, I like to stuff mine with haggis mmmmmm. Probs not that great calorie wise, esp if you are eating them with roasties!

Lidl is great for chicken thighs! Im annoyed the one near me is closed for a month (they are expanding it!) as I noticed my shopping bill this month has increased alot because I'm having to get my meat and things from Asda (Who's meat is minging btw!) £5 for fatty chicken breasts, eugh!

I still have two packs of chicken thighs in the freezer, last time I went to Lidls they were selling them half price, plus they had the 30% sticker on them, so I got loads of them for under a quid each! Bargainrific!

I'm feeling like I can cheat right now, because my scales are dead, does that make sense? I'm having to keep reining myself in, normally I weigh myself everyday so feeling a bit lost without them keeping me on track.

Just had a yummy salad for lunch

    Tuna mayo
    Red pepper
    Onion
Few handful of mixed salad, spinach leaves etc
    Tomato
    and balsalmic vinegar.

I really could live off tuna salads! Though I doubt all the mercury would be good for me! Is there a way you can figure out how many calories would be in it? I never really keep track and I'd like too because I'm sure I undereat most days!

Think I'm making herb sausages with mash and onion gravy for tea, maybe yorkie puds for OH too. I'll be good and just have 2 sausages, no mash, and loads of cabbage and broccoli.....well that's the plan at any rate!

Oh BB, I do hope you feel better soon. Awful that it's caused by the side effects of your medication too. Will your body naturally adjust to them, or does it stay much like this?

    - I bought the Wii for the children, but I bought the Wii Fit primarily for me. However, all 4 of my boys (ranging in age from 17 to 8) use it. My almost 11 y/o and 8 y/o love it! I cancelled my gym membership last month because I hadn't been since last summer. Prior to that I had been going for almost 2 yrs 3 times a week. I did a really thorough workout, so much so that I used to drip with sweat. I was very proud of my weightlifting abilities too (you don't build big muscles BTW, you just tone up), but I was lifting more than some of the men in there! Then the aircon broke, and I simply couldn't cope with the temperature in there. It stayed like that for months. By the time it was fixed, my momentum had gone, and the weight had well and truly leapt back on!

If you joined a gym, could you commit to going at least 3 times a week? I did an hour and a half workout each time I went. 45 mins cardio, 45 mins weights, which is the recommended amount. Our gym had a creche, but the cost was extra. How would you manage to find the time to go? Is it reasonably close by? Bear in mind that if you do a thorough workout, you're going to need to shower/wash hair afterwards, which all takes time. The only negative part of going for me was the time issue. It took my whole morning. I'd start my workout at 9am, be out the shower by 11am, drive home, then have to dry & style my hair till mid-day, so it was half my day gone! I didn't feel like going in the evenings as I was quite tired by then, and it does get rather busy with the after work crowd.

So that's the practical advice, if you've not been to a gym.

What the Wii has going for it is that it is so accessible, easy to use, you can build up your time and effort. The whole family can use it, and it does encourage children to get off their bums and jump about. I'm not under any illusions that it is burning as much fat/calories as the gym did. My shape changed dramatically, and quickly using the gym. But, you could incorporate that into your own day, using a bike, walking, basic weights & the Wii, or exercise videos. I did use videos in the past, but I found them so repetitive that I stopped doing them, as I couldn't cope with hearing the background songs, or the dialogue anymore (I'd have happily punched Mr Motivator at one point)! Think about the type of equipment the gym provides, usually: cross trainer/eliptical, rower, upright bike, recumbent bike, stair climber, treadmill, then resistent weights machines, and free weights. In the cardio section you'd spend 10 mins on each machine, and do different weights machines on different days (shoulders/arms then legs/back, etc), 3 x 10 reps on each, etc. I'm sure Missy could probably advise you better than me!:o

I know the weather doesn't encourage you outside at the mo, but if it's dry, why not put DD in the pushchair and take her out for a fast walk. Do any exercise that makes you out of puff. Do you have a bike, could you get a toddler seat to fit on it?

I think you have to consider how you need to tailor any fitness regime, and how your day to day life can realistically fit in your fitness time. I've got 4 kids, so I know it can be hard.

Anyway, I hope some of that has helped you think about it better.

Marion, I'm looking forward to you not just breaking that three day record, but smashing it!

So, I'm on day 1 again, and trying to ensure I'm counting everything (including my milk, which I'd forgotten about in my drinks). I've had a healthy lunch, and was preparing a very healthy beef casserole, with about 7 different veggies in it, when there's a knock at the door, and my elderly neighbour has given me a big box of chocolates to say thanks for me clearing her path of snow last week! The cellophane will have to stay on them! I still have chocs left over from Christmas, and a big box of 'tuck' that my BF bought me as part of one of my Christmas presents; it has all my favourite sweeties in it, and I've hidden it to try to forget about it! Aaaaarghh!!!:rotfl:

OK, gotta fly off to collect the children now. Until later....
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
  • thank you for your kind words thought and hugs peeps. I am now at the limp lettuce leaf stage, but the 'never want to eat again' has moved on to 'all I ever want to eat is buttery toast'. Strictly medicinal of course.

I've been on these drugs off and on for 6 years saryM and the side effects come and go - haven't had this one for a while and it came outta nowhere. The headaches are the worst in that they are more frequent. Though every time I restart the drugs after a 'giving your body a rest from them' break(which normally means being veyr ill with what they protect me from) the stomach pains are frequent but diminsh over a few weeks. The best bit about the stomach pains is it is soo fantastic when they go.
    I think it's called 'life's rich tapestry' .

    Interesting article on eggs:

Well done on the pringle resistance dmv - I trust you bopped the BF on the head several times with the tube while chanting 'diamonds you fool, not lard making snacks. Are my instructions so difficult to follow!':rotfl:
    Marion - banking on you making it 3 in a row:T .
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I was thinking about a wii fit as I can do this at home, with DD asleep or even when they both go to bed.

Sary, and all your others that use the fit........Is it really worth me spending the money? Have you guys really seen a difference?
The main reason I was thinking about this was even with some extras thrown in to keep the OH and kids happy (4 1/2y and 2!) and the wii fit etc I comes to about the same amount as a years gym membership. Now I would use the gym but as OH home time can be so erratic I think it would be money wasted if I could only use it once a week. At least with the wii everyone could use it and its there for me to use more often. Any advice, replies gratefully received...........

The wii fit is ab fab:D I have got 2 kids and they love it but me even more, I am diabetic and rheumatoid arthritic and apart from walking have not made any effort to join a gym.do exercise, etc but with the wii fit you can do as much as little as you like and it is great when the kids go to school or out with friends, just switch it on and it is there, yoga, aerobics, balance games and muscle work outs, it has transformed me in how much fun you can have with exercise, it tells you the BMI your weight gives you goals, you don't have to worry about sweating in front of others while you free jog aroudn the living room, I can't recommend it highly enough, love it, complete exercise convert, I switch it on do some things go off again come back to it, fab:D

    bb:grouphug:

WhY does lunch out have to be so complicated? Fancied egg sandwich (always have turkey subway because I know the cals, points and it is habit) went to bakers oven they had one, not a single bit on the packet said the fat, cals etc so asked her 'I have no idea she said' went to Sainsburys egg 524 cals:eek: put that one back, boots had sold out of their healthy section so ended back at subway for the turkey sub again and now feel that ALL I wanted was an healthy egg sandwich on brown, no mayo:rolleyes:

Victory - Not sure if there is a Co-op near you but I'm sure their egg sandwichs are about 300calories. I buy them now and then, but they do these healthy wraps which are really nice, like chicken tikka with a lime and coriander yoghurt, and they are 250cals if I remember and they are pretty good at filling you up!
