Hi all,
Wasn't there a thread that used OS weight loss ideas and didn't rely on WW or SW?
Just a thought.Jane 21120 -
Hello everyone
House is a mess so Im doing the Flylady thing today-as much as I can beyond the sniffles and snuffles. Had brekkie, quite an odd one coz I was craving veg-had sprouts with cheesy sauce so thats 175 cals. Im guessing I should make myself an apple juice or something shortly:o
Had a bad night last night so at 4am I was up making sugarpaste baby bits to store:rotfl:
And I have a doctors appointment today so Im considering chatting to him about a bit of help from him. He's wonderful and it was thanks to him I managed to quit smoking in 6 weeks.
Catsmam Well done on giving up the smoking-I think its even harder to do than losing weight:beer: And you are SO right about the frame of mind. It does make such a difference. I found every other time I tried it was sabotaging-I just ate more and smoked even more than that:eek:
Bails :rotfl: about OH's dream.Mine flew to SA to propose me (which is how I ended up here) but now we keep changing our minds about the kind of wedding we want so we havent got to it...he woke me this morning to say he thinks we should hurry coz last night bhe dreamed I was pregnant again and his mother was not happy with us:D0 -
Hello KiKi and welcome! Have you spoken to your personal trainer about the 'plateau' you seem to have hit? Is the 1000-1200 calories/day part of a plan they have recommended for you? I am just wondering if you're aware that restricted calories plus lots of exercise can cause your BMR to reduce. The good folks on here will know that I'm speaking from experience
Hi there Missy
Thank you for the welcome!
I don't see my PT anymore - this was something I did a year or so ago and it stood me in great stead for training properly.
With my BMR as it should be, and the exercise I do, eating 1200 cals a day should be fine, and would mean I should lose approx 2lbs a week which I think is achievable. It's not part of a plan, it's simply that I eat a lot of veggies and fruit!! Even with a big snack of 250 cals a day I still struggle to reach 1200!!
I would usually eat:
Breakfast - Porridge (always)
Snacks - Apples, bananas, nectarines, crackers, and maybe a packet of crisps for a big 250 cal snack!
Lunch - Roll with tuna, leaves, tomato, or maybe Brown Rice with cabbage, onion, broccoli, babycorn etc Fruit.
Dinner - Veggies with Tuna, or Quorn sausages, or potatoes, or rice.
I sometimes eat pasta, but not too much or it does funny things to my insides!
I drink black tea, too, lots of water, and when it's hot here, a Diet Coke!
It's very frustrating, knowing that I'm exercising well, eating less than I need to survive, and yet I'm not losing anything! So do pass on your experience if you think it would help.
For anyone who is able to have a good PT, as well, I would recommend one as one of the best ways to make sure you're making the most of your exercise. The stuff I learnt from my trainer was invaluable in making a big difference to the way I train.

Hi all,

Welcome to kiki and catsmam. Cat - you're right about being in the right frame of mind, it makes a huge difference.
Just weighed myself for the 1st time in 2 weeks. I now have 11lbs to lose so am pleased I have made the decision to return to classes. Raph - like you, I have done a lot of picking these last few weeks and I need to start reigning that in now. OH parents gave us a huge tine of roses yesterday:eek: . Plus his mum is one of those people who get offended if you don't gorge yourself on the excessive food she buys in (got upset becasue I didn't want a 2nd huge helping of banoffe pie when I had already eaten a quater of it). Bizarre behaviour to me but I don't take any notice really.
Marion - well done on your determination to return to plan. I think the 7lbs will come off quickly. We mustn't forget this is an exceptional time of year and it's ok to enjoy food, sucessful long term healthy weight loss is about knowing when it is time to get back on the wagon.
Missy :T on the sts. If only you could bottle your focus (and pleasure in the process) you could make a fortune:DI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I'm going to do my weigh in's on a monday, that way I can't be sneaky over the weekend. Just jumped on the scales and I'm currently 13st 4lbs, so that's a 2lb loss since last week. Pretty chuffed I didn't actually gain anything!
Got my friend up from Darlington visting this week for New Year, don't think I can get away feeding them salad, DEAR LORD, I've already been told they want my homemade Lasagne, Tacos, curry! I'll just have to try and limit myself to 1 measly taco....BOO.
I really want to see that 12stones on the scales, I know it will be 12stone 13lb, but what a boost, aiming for that in 2weeks time!
Hope everyone has a good new years :beer:0 -

I had to laugh one of the yoga poses is stand on one leg and tuck the other into the side balance I have none and it showed lol0 -

Well done on losing weight over Christmas - that's fantastic!! :T
I know what you mean about being in that 'region' of weight that you want to be. I'd LOVE to see "10 stone - something" on the scales! I don't care if it's 10,13 - that's fine! But anything that starts with a number lower than 11 would be terrific at this point!
Thank you for the welcomes, everyone.
Brighton Belle - do you live in Brighton? That's where I live, have done for ten years.

i love the wii fit too victory - i've been doing it for about 3 months and it still says helpful things like 'do you find yourself falling over when you walk?' Had an epiphany the other day - whe nyou are jogging you sometimes get overtaken by a little doggy. Overtake your guide when theres a doggy there and it becomes your guide and you get to go on a different route!0
