  • Yeah, good point bails. Phew, we nearly let her get away with that:D
Jane, you are most welcome to join us. We've been expecting a tidal wave of newbies at New Year, and a number are signing up already:T .
I started with a bmi of 30 last year and got it down to 24.7:T , and that was without much exercise (health reasons). Thanks to medication and a loss of focus, I've put on 9ish lbs in the last month or 2 so am returning to sw classes this week after a year's break. Eaten so much these ast few day now I have decided it has to stop from Tuesday.
OH lurgified. Hoping I don't get it: I seem to have avoided everyhting so far.
Yup, had a great meet with bails on xmas eve: got chucked out of the cafe at 4pm as the staff wanted to go home. So we just carried on outside:rotfl: .
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Welcome to all the lovely new members. I have been totally off plan for the last week but while I thought I enjoyed it at the time, having made the decision to get back on plan this week it comes as a relief! I go to get weighed shortly and am expecting very bad news!:o

    My plan today is:

Breakfast - scan brans with yogurt and raspberries (heb, free, free)
Lunch - jacket potato with chilli (free and free)
Dinner - roast lamb with mashed potato, carrots and green beans (free)
Will probably have a couple of glasses of wine tonight for my syns and will use up my hea in coffee during the day. Any munchies between meals will be addressed with fruit!

Good luck everyone (LL - we will miss you!)

Welcome Xaviera! Snap about the swimming lessons! I want to improve too. I'm on a waiting list for a course in January but I think I would have heard by now if I'd got in :( When do you start yours?

I've got to book them when I go into the gym, hopefully there won't be a massive waiting list here! Oh well if not I'll just wait! :p

Has anyone found a good free online health coach? I was thinking of buying My Health Coach for the DS but I'm sure there has to be something free that monitors you online....that you can put your weight and measurements and diet in, that kinda thing?

A great result here: STS :D:D:D

Calories 14100 or 2014 average per day. This includes an estimated 3000 for Christmas Day, I then had a sensible day on Boxing Day (1654) and the rest of the week I ate just a little more than usual - an extra 100-200 per day.

Exercise continued of course! Here's the summary:
    • Mon: Manual treadmill 30 mins
    • Tue: Cross country jogging 2 hrs
    • Wed: Gym sesh (manual treadmill, cross trainer, exercise bike) 30 mins
    • Thu: Cross country jogging 2 hrs 24 mins
    • Fri: Long cross country walk 3 hrs
Total 8 hours 24 mins (or 5 hours 24 mins if you don't include the walk!). I upped the intensity on the exercise except for the walk, and I think that probably balanced out the extra calories. I did expect to gain a small amount so the STS has surprised me!

I'll keep the calorie allowance at 2000/day this week, not planning quite as much jogging so we'll see what happens!

That's also my final weekly weigh in. I'm starting a brand new spreadsheet for 2009 and although I'll still be weighing myself, I'll only be recording an official weigh in once a month :) I've chosen to weigh mid-month on the 14th, so the first one is actually only two weeks away :p

GOOD LUCK everyone who's weighing this week, and I hope it's been a successful year overall with your targets :D

    Hello

I was wondering if I can gatecrash the thread and join in for 2009, please?!

My name's KiKi, I'm 30, and over the last few years I've gone from 15 stone to 11 stone, which I'm pleased about, but need to get down to about 9.5 stone which makes me a nice size 10-12. I had a personal trainer for a year, so I'm very good at going to the gym. I average 600cals a time at the gym, 5 times a week. And I eat between 1000-1200 cals a day, although sometimes that goes up to 1800 cals if I'm out with work, or just fancy treating myself, maybe once a week.

Frustratingly, despite all that, I've lost nothing in the last 2 months! I'm living in Australia at the moment, will be back in the UK in April, and I'd like to lost my 1.5 stone before then.

So I'll join the weekly weigh in and post everything from 1st Jan - I'll weigh myself at the gym that morning (no scales where I'm staying at the moment!). I diet/exercise on the basis that my intake should be 1800 a day to maintain weight. To lose a kg, I assume that I need to not eat - or exercise off - approximately 7900 calories. So I should be able to reach my target comfortably.

But because I've lost nothing recently, I could do with a place to whinge, support others and get some encouragement in it all!

I have to say that I've also noticed that since I hit 30 my shape is changing (dammit, I love my curves where they are, I don't want them moving around) which is irritating me. So I want to lost the weight before it becomes more difficult!!

    Thanks for having me. :)

    KiKi

Err, Missy, you still haven't answered the flowers question...:p

Really great to see so many new people on board, you're very welcome and we'll help you however we can. I agree with BB, the key is to find something which is a lifelong plan and sustainable.

Tagz, sorry to hear about the trip to A&E, hope your BP sorts itself out soon.

Serendis, CONGRATULATIONS!!! :j:smileyhea Please tell us all about it! Is there a date? The closest I came is that my OH told me he'd had a dream about wearing a wedding ring the night before last...it kept falling off his fiinger :rotfl:I'm thinking he's not yet ready :rotfl:

I'm very happy this end with loads of lovely food (including an amazing veggie Christmas dinner made by OH's veggie step uncle who makes fantastic food :T) and a 1.5 lb gain :D It was so wonderful to not feel stressed at all this year - acceptance is a wonderful thing!

I wish you all great things for the coming year xxx

  • Hi all can I join in please.
I am in my late 30's (very late 40 is looming) & stopped smoking on March 1st 2007 but since then have ballooned up to 15 stone (never have been a thin person & always been in the region of 12 stone). I eat badly (also spell badly lol) & have a problem eating friut & veg (crisps alsways seam better). I have now got my head around the idea of losing weight & have set myself a date of Jan 2nd to start.
I need to get down to about 91/2 stone so is going to be a long slow process & need all the help I can get. I have been on every diet you can think of from Weightwatchers & Slimming World to tablets from the doctors but have never really been in the right frame of mind, now I am & I am committed to this. Have started to get my shopping delivered so no temptation to impulse buy in the supermarket.

    here's to 2009 _party_

LOL at just getting on the bike FFM :p :rotfl: What about weekends? No chance of sneaking off for half an hour while Mr Monkey holds the fort at home? As you say though, the cold is really off putting - I struggled to make my cycling quota in November and had to do extra in December. It was harsh! I don't go out cycling when it's dark either.

Welcome Jane! I was out walking on Boxing Day too and it was gorge. Did you enjoy your walk on the Dales (apart from maybe the uphills)? Hope you did!

Oh gosh I forgot about the flowers, they were from an old friend - yes, a male, haha - it was a big surprise though! I think my son was a bit disappointed that they weren't from a 'secret admirer' :rotfl: He's been watching too much tv :p

Glad you had a good meet up BB and Bails :D Trust your trip to Brighton was all good Bails?

Marion well done on being brave and facing the scales! Hopefully most or all of that is "easy on easy off" poundage :)

Hello KiKi and welcome! Have you spoken to your personal trainer about the 'plateau' you seem to have hit? Is the 1000-1200 calories/day part of a plan they have recommended for you? I am just wondering if you're aware that restricted calories plus lots of exercise can cause your BMR to reduce. The good folks on here will know that I'm speaking from experience :)

Catsmam welcome! Good luck with your targets.

All the new joiners please keep posting so we can get to know each other!
