OS Daily Wednesday 24th December Christmas eve

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 24th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning peeps

Merry Christmas to you all! I`ve been MIA for a few days as life has been rather hectic, I began to catch up a few times and failed miserably so i hope that everyone is well and all the poorlies are better. I shall try and read a bit more over the next couple of days.

Catowen - A belated Happy Birthday to you, :bdaycake: hope that you had a wonderful day yesterday.

Today is my last day at w*rk and it will be extremely hectic but also enjoyable, the last few days have been so busy that i`ve been left rather frazzled and in need of sleep  i shall be setting off in 20 minutes and hopefully i shall arrive back home around 4pm and be able to start peeling the sprouts and getting some of the smaller jobs done ready for the big day.

Must dash now but i hope to be along later to catch up.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Today my choc says “Santa’s On His Way” :j:santa2:

There’s lots of food in the oven (well there will be in about an hourish), some booze in the fridge and clean glasses waiting to be filled. Party day in my house today :D

Mr tru made some cakes last night – don’t know what to call them cos he made up the recipe as he went along, lol – I helpfully suggested that he use the Kenwood Chef. He told me off, said I was like a five-year-old on Christmas morning and “YOU ARE NOT TAKING IT OUT OF THE BOX TIL CHRISTMAS DAY” :(

Animals clean, fed and watered tick1.gif.jpg
    Presents wrapped tick1.gif.jpg
    Christmas lights on tick1.gif.jpg
Food ready to go in oven tick1.gif.jpg
CD ready to play in stereo tick1.gif.jpg

OK, I'm ready, pass the fizz :D

We'll be watching The Muppet Christmas Carol tonight :T

Don't forget to use NORAD from 11am :rudolf:

As it’s Christmas Eve, I thought I’d sing a whole song :xmassmile
    musicnote.gif.jpg
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping on your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And every mother's child is going to spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although its been said many times, many ways
A very Merry Christmas to you!

:santa2: :snow_laug :xmassmile :xmassign: :xmastree: :snow_grin Hi all and a Happy Christmas Eve to everyone.

I hope all those who have been unwell are a lot better now and that those who are anxious can at least have a few days break from worrying.

Well, it's almost here, at last. I shall be glad when it's this evening and everything is bought, prepared, wrapped and so on! We are hoping to get out early this morning - we have to bank some cheques and then we shall stroll around the local market just absorbing that Christmas Eve atmosphere. I STILL have the ironing to do - might rope DH into doing that.

I'm going to cook the turkey crown today as well as the bacon-wrapped sausages, prep the veggies and make a trifle for pudding. I'm trying to have an easy Christmas morning for a change. The whole family will be with us for the afternoon, which we're really looking forward to.

Dinner tonight will be HM pie and chips and pudding might well be choccies!

Well, I'm off for a shower.

Hope everyone has a constructive day and a relaxing evening. I'll try and catch up with you all later.

I'm feeling all excited :) I love that song as well Tru.

Contemplating going into town for a wander this morning, to see if there are any bargains (perhaps a few last-minute bits for my DD's socks) but it's a good feeling knowing - for once - that I don't HAVE to, everything's done & wrapped (which is a real miracle for me!!!). We will be off to the cinema early evening, and probably getting a Chinese to take to my mum's & eat (as she's now got the flu...). Usually we go out to the Harvester or something.

If I'm awake enough I'd like to go to midnight mass, but will see how the day pans out.

Smoked salmon blinis for lunch, supper as above. Other than that, I'm not worrying about washing or cleaning!!

((((((hugs))))) for all those who are feeling poorly, or who will find this Christmas a tough one for whatever reason.

    Morning all

Not been on for a while, OS has been sadly lacking in this house. But hope to do some around teatime when I will visit the shops and see if there are any bargains to be had. Some YS meat and bread for the freezer and I will be a happy bunny.

Drove up to London from Kent on Monday to visit DH's dad's grave and my mum and dad's grave. Stonemason did a great job on adding my mum's details to my dad's gravestone so thats a bill to pay in the new year. Went out very early yesterday morning to finish my shopping and collect some meat I had ordered from M&S for Boxing Day when my DS, DIL and 2 GC will be coming for the day, can't wait. So a quiet Christmas Day and a lovely noisy day with the little 'uns on Boxing Day.

Have to give lounge and dining room a good hoovering and polishing today. Cleaned the kitchen yesterday, blushes when I looked behind the microwave :o But as I said to DH you can't live in a sterile atmosphere it isn't good for you ;):D

Hope everyone has a very happy and healthy Christmas :rudolf: xxxxxxxxxx
