  • no probs, haven't called them yet but will do tomorrow, and report back after

if they've taken the money don't call them til you've got your phones and checked the invoice

important note: they may well send you an e616 in an e616v sleeve, make sure when you call them you get them to pick this one up and send you the right phone! ;)
  • Have not received a reply from my email yet, so will try and call them tomorrow (I was charged £44.99)

Just checked the details of my phone. The sleeve says NEC c616V/e616V on the front and sides and it clearly states on the back. "When your included £15 top-up runs out or the validity period expires, you will need to buy a new top-up. etc, ect.

However I also have a small customer information card which says "This NEC c616V handset contains a software build that is generally employed in the NEC e616V handset. Therefore your handset will have the features and funtionality of an NEC e616V handset and will support the same accessories as the NEC e616V handset. The NEC e616V User guide included in the box will be applicable to your handset. Your NEC c616V handset differs from an NEC e616V handset only by the addition of certain Chinese key characters on the alphanumeric keypad, and a NEC c616V printed on the reverse of the handset."

    I'll keep you posted!
    :)
  • PS: Also my invoice does state Hutchison 3G pre pay NEC E616v £29.99 and 3 Prepay Voucher £15.00.

There is no voucher in the box.

The phone is an NEC c616.

    :)
  • @ Angelcake

Well let's get this straight before you mislead anyone else with your antics.

You had encouraged "everyone" to complain to watchdog, without a mention of your circumstances nor a thought to theirs. Additionally you encouragement followed posts from people who had not been charged without authorisation.

Now I don't believe it is right to go bleating to watchdog unless you have a case. Hence my response.

I have been charged for more than I authorised, not that I need explain my case to you,

Well that's up to you but anyone can only respond to what you do explain. Very few mindreaders around here.
I sent them an email refusing permission to use my card details for more than I had originally authorised. but they still went ahead and I have received nothing!

If that is the truth then you should have qualified you earlier call to arms.
what am I guilty of exactly?

Well for starters, would it have hurt to make a decent attempt to contact CPW. I called them around the same time. It took a couple of minutes, problem sorted. No incitement to all and sundry to run mob handed with or without justification to Watchdog.
Thanks for your really useful response to this problem!  ::)

No, thank you for making ill thought vague posts. That's just what this forum really needs more of.  ::)

Well enough of your sillyness and back to the matter in hand.

I believe CPW is in the wrong to charge anyone the additional £15 without specific authorisation. I think they had the right to cancel all the orders and/or re offer at another price.

Having seen the full text of there supposed re-offer I think they have compounded their original error. The idea of charging the buyer a higher price unless the buyer contacts them is ludicrous IMO. I'd like to see the T&C covering that one. In addition passing the added charge off as payment for a voucher that not only does not exist but refers to a £15 top up which is an intrinsic part of the package that cannot be separated appears indefensible. It may be worth dropping one off to the TSO to get their opinion.

I also note that the offer I saw did not refer to a specific order. Another bad mistake.

If I had been charged already I would phone them and say refund the £15 or speak to my CC company.

If I received the re-offer I would be tempted to ignore it then if sent a phone charged at the higher price take the same course as above. This is not advice and is less morally sound but the CPW are really making thier own bed by being less than honest and more than a little underhand IMO.

So what about them sending out the wrong phones?! A worse quality phone then the one advertised?!?! :-/

I haven't yet received my order that is why I haven't contacted them yet! I checked my bank account yesterday and seen they have over charged me! Why have they charged some the extra and not others?!? :-/

It wasn't my original idea to contact watchdog I just gave the link! :-/

So you got your order fine, you are happy with the wrong phone and b*gger anyone else with a problem, I wonder what your sarcastic comments would be should the shoe be on the other foot!

Back to the issue in hand....

Has everyone who has recieved their order got what they want? has cpw refunded you the £15 no quibble and has anyone actually received the phone advertised!?!?!?!?!?
    :p:p Angel :p:p

make sure you check the actual box and phone for the model number (sticker on the side of box) not the number on the sleeve which shows c616v/e616v....this is not what they have sent several people...they are being pretty cheeky and sending an e616 (without the v) in an e616v sleeve

ps. the e616 has terrible battery problems

    Sleeve says e616v
    Sticker says 616
    Phone says c616v

So, I have no idea which it is! :-/

Only need the phone for a month anyway, so hopefully it will do what it has to :)

Update people......(although haven't called carphone warehouse yet...will do tomorrow)

having spoken to 3 about them repackaging the e616's in e616v sleeves this was what they said....

the software has been updated to that of the e616v

the battery has been replaced with one equivalent to the e616v one

if this is the case then the phone should be equivalent to an e616v......but i don't trust it myself and will be holding out for the phone i ordered

    hope this helps :)

    <sigh>

Your are being very obnoxious. Enough of the lies. If you read my post it is quite clearly not the case at all.

Firstly, you did not just give a link to watchdog you said "Everyone should complain...GO FOR IT EVERYONE!!! ".

Secondly, I have given my view of the problems and it quite clearly does not relect the "I'm all right Jack" attitiude you accuse me of.

"b*gger anyone else with a problem" hardly!

You are coming over as a rather silly child. Desist with the lies and the irresponsible misleading posts. They are disruptive and help no one.
  • now now peeps....bargain hunting not bickering ;D ;D ;D
  • I ammmm ssoooo Peeeved of with that bloomin company! I was on the phone for an hour to the pigs!! They tried lying to me saying thy promised that the e616 was the e616v until I was having none of it then guess what, somone confirmed it wasn't the same phone! but hey, I can either accept it paying for the full amount or not and have a refund....leaving me with extra presents to find and £90 down before christmas!! I am so angry with them! they said it says in their terms and conditions that they can charge me what they like! They also said that everyone got a courtesey email (After I asked why noone got an email saying of the mistake and asking whether the customer would like to continue), bascially he said "everyone of the customers got an email 'apart from you'" in a very sarcastic tone! They just didn't wanna know.......newskiller  - thanks for the advise!  ::)

I think it's perhaps your attitude that let's you down on the phone too.

Other people I have been in touch with on the net and off have been refunded the £15.

Sometimes it's who you speak to, sometimes it's how you speak.

Anyone else had better luck than angelcake.
