    To sterilise a coin, first clean it so it looks sparkling - a couple of hours in cola should do that, maybe a going over with an old toothbrush. Then boil it for 5-10 mins, or use something like Milton.

    Most poultry needs 20 mins/ pound, but that is with the cavity empty. I would say do 25 or 30 mins per pound and check it. If the juices run clear when the deepest part is pierced, it is done.

    i'm aware of that ;) the roasting time will depend on the weight - it it a lark in a pigeon in a duck, or a chicken in a turkey in an ostrich :d

    Only do this if it has no intrinsic value, and you haven't taken it out of your prized coin collection, coz otherwise you'll ruin it. :p

    A silver threepenny bit! My grandmother had one she kept for putting in the Christmas pud when I was a small child - I hate Xmas pud, but always had a bit in hopes of getting the coin, which was then swapped for a florin, riches indeed for a child in the 50's!

    BTW, the design on the reverse of the brass 3d was a thrift plant, first used in the 1930's, a time when everyone was encouraged to save. Very apt for this site! :D

    From Ald!? I have had them twice and they are awesome! The quality was more like M&S than budget and they were really tasty.

    Definately recommend one :)

    Thank you, I might give one a try. It's hard to try something new when it costs a few bob if it turns out a total disaster.

    Feel a bit easier about it now.

    I wonder if I can create any space for one:)

    I do have plenty of alternatives in the freezer(various types of fish)pork, chicken, lamb and turkey. And in the fridge a small ham and a pork, turkey and bacon lattace. Can you put a cooked ham in a freezer? It has no information on the ham either way.

    All my vegetables and a variety of desserts, pies, puddings and cakes.

    So apart from being on my own I will be ok I guess.
