What does quark taste like and why do you all eat it? Is it because its free?

I can't believe the EE plan could make me lose weight! I can eat all the meat and potato I want as long as I use fat free accompaniments? I will look in on the SW website later and have a good look at it. Doesn't the normal red/green days mean more weight loss though?

I think quark is very bland and has the texture of Philly but tastes of nothing. But I mix it with herbs and gralic and stuff chicken breasts and wrap them in Bacon, they were amazing )left the garlic/quark mix overnight to absorb flavours)
I also used Quark in the Pate recipe over xmas instead of Fromage Frais, I I think FF is too cheesy, the Pate was lovely also and my mum and dad couldnt beleive it was syn free and tasted like restaraunt Pate. I think its a great ingredient to have, and are prepared enought to leave it to absorb flavours etc. It was only 60p in Asda also so I didnt feel too bad experimenting incase it was yukky.
re EE, im just starting to try EE this week, yes you can mix pots and meat, and for maximum results pile the plate with superfree foods (veg, salad) I think you would still lose weight if you didnt have a lot of veg, only not as fast, and you may lack in fibre. But by cutting out one HEA and HEB then thats esentially another 12 syns you are cutting out of your day.

(sorry that was so long) hth

I'd miss cheese! I can't live without cheese!

you could always syn it, only 6 syns for 28g, that still saves 9 syns for choccy or wine

thats what I plan to do with bread, as I do love toast for brekkie and a sandwich at lunch. So If I feel like it ill syn 2 slices of wm toast.

I think i will try yoghurt at breakfast and if i'm hungary i can always have my toast late morning. I work in an office so its really hard to cook certain things like a cooked breakfast or have spaghetti on toast. or anything hot basically apart from toast. it takes me just over an hour to get to work so i don't have my breakfast in the morning before the ofifce as i would have to get up too early and its hard as it is with this freezing weather to get out of bed at all.

Could you maybe get some of those toastabags? Then you could take two eggs to work (in shells or out in tupperware) and make scrambled egg (to have on your toast. You could also do toasties in them for lunch! Or as said, marmite is free if you love it (I hate it!)

Yes, I use quark because its completely free - I think if you mix half and half with mayo its good too and cuts down the syns.

If you use both HEa's on cheese you can have 84g of reduced fat cheddar a day! I like to use lots on top of my pasta!:D

To me, it seems stupid to syn something that is already free, if you know what I mean. I very rarely have a red day, 95% green, so I can't see how EE would be or any benefit to me. I eat cheese as my secong HEA everyday, except on some occassions I may have extra milk for a rice pudding or milky drinks.

Also, on the topic of sysns, to me it's not just a case of using syns for chocloate or 'treats' - I have a couple of food intolerances which means there are some 'free' foods I can't eat. Therefore, I use my syns to add extras to meals to make them (a) more exciting, (b) more filling and (c) to make up for what I can't eat.

I can't see EE working for me, except possibly the odd weekends if I have a roast dinner or something on those lines.

I can't get my head around how meat, potatoes, rice and pasta together can help you lose. Looking back at my older food diaries, it just doesn't seem logical. I suppose it's different for everyone, but I think I'll be stopping on green!

It's interesting to see the different perspectives from different people!

This is my point - on EE I would only get 1 HEA!

Yes i'm I hate it fan as well. I love it how it really is true you either can't live with you out marmite or you simply can not stand it how strange lol.

Yes i do have that miracle invention of a toasty bag. I will have to try it at work the only problem i'm seeing it we have a cheap toaster from argos and it just about fits one slice of bread in the toaster slot.

Has anyone cooked bacon the night before and then warmed it up in the oven i was thinking i could have a bacon sandwich at work with a thin layer of ketchup. mmmmm people in my office would be so jealous.

Thanks everyone for your great ideas.

You can still have 42g then - thats more than enough for me! And on green (IIRC) you can have more cheese as a HEB.

You don't HAVE to do anything except your green if you don't want to, but it gives the rest of us choices. I will probably still do 60/70% green but EE makes going out for dinner/the day easy as you can't weigh the meat they serve!

Syns are there to stop us from feeling deprived and giving up - if this means extra bread, cheese or anything else then thats a personal choice!
