    hi Skint_catt,

No we also don't have Quakr. It's just that I'm not used to cooking with yogurt so don't really know how the tastes will differ between yogurt and cream cheese. But I will start experimenting because I love curries and they always use yogurt in them so I will give it a try.

What does quark taste like and why do you all eat it? Is it because its free?

I can't believe the EE plan could make me lose weight! I can eat all the meat and potato I want as long as I use fat free accompaniments? I will look in on the SW website later and have a good look at it. Doesn't the normal red/green days mean more weight loss though?
  • I think i will try yoghurt at breakfast and if i'm hungary i can always have my toast late morning. I work in an office so its really hard to cook certain things like a cooked breakfast or have spaghetti on toast. or anything hot basically apart from toast. it takes me just over an hour to get to work so i don't have my breakfast in the morning before the ofifce as i would have to get up too early and its hard as it is with this freezing weather to get out of bed at all.

hello! Well I had 42g of dried apricots (healthy B) and yoghurt this mornign, and it was a lovely filling start to the day!

I only noticed this because I am also having semi-dried apricots as my B today :D , but you are allowed 71g for a whole B choice, so perhaps you could weigh out the rest and snack on them through the day!

I used mine by splitting them between breakfast (in porridge) and having the bulk of them in a tagine tonight (onion and chickpea - yum!)

yes, it's free. It is good for adding to jam to make a fruit sauce, or in deserts generally or as a base for a sauce. I don't like it personally, it is very sour, but maybe I'll find a way to use it at some point that I like

yes, the new EE is anything free on red and green can be on the same plate.

The plans seem to work differently for everyone. Green is a slow loss for me, red is quicker, but I get bored of lots of meat and trying to fit in the HEBs. I'm hoping that EE will be a good, steady loss for me and it doesn't take as much 'thought' because red and green can be eaten together. Time will tell I guess.

 Anyone had any thoughts about something interesting to do with 1/2 box of stale shreddies, weetabix or raison wheats??

    Weetabix cake

If you're a fan of fruity malt loaf, you'll love this.
    Serves 10
Syns per serving: 3½ Syns + 1 HEB and part of a HEA

    2 Weetabix (HEB)
    113g/4oz sultanas (16 syns)
    142ml/5floz skimmed milk (from HEA)
    142ml 5floz water
    113g/4oz self-raising flour (18 syns)
    1 teaspoon mixed spice
    14g/½ oz artificial sweetener (optional)
    1 egg, beaten

    1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC, 350ºF or Gas Mark 4

    2. Put the Weetabix and sultanas in a bowl. Pour the milk and water over the top and leave to soak up all the liquid.
    3. Stir in the flour, mixed spice, sweetener and beaten egg.
    4. Spoon the mixture into a 454g (1lb) lined/non-stick loaf tin and bake in the preheated oven for 1¼ hours until cooked.
    5. Cool on a wire rack, then cut into 10 slices.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

When I read the Easy booklet I immediately felt as if something had been taken away from me by only having 1 HE a & b. I know its a mental thing but I'm going to stick with red and green for now.

But you'd get most of your HEBs as free foods on EE.

For instance if you were having a large steak (red day free food) you might have had a measured portion of SW chips with it and added a portion of peas as your 2 HEBs - these would now be free foods, so you're not losing out at all :)

Hi do you have any shops that sell German food near you? I know Quark is big in Germany/Belgium etc they have it in different flavours etc.
