do you's think its possible to follow slimming world without going to the classes? just using this thread and buying the books of ebay

I got my books off eBay in June and set out on the plan on my own.

I only found this thread at the beginning of January - it's been a great help if I've been stuck with anything.

    I've now lost nearly 4 stone! :T

You can do it on your own if you stay focused and committed. If you cheat, you are only cheating yourself. Set yourself targets and keep charts and graphs, and it will work for you. It has for me, anyway!

Classes were not an option for me because of my perosnal circumstances, but I can't see how I would/could have done any better at class. My weight loss has been consistent at a reasonable rate so I'm not going 'flabby' and I'm really happy!

Feel free to PM me if you need any help!

I have found that the main book you need tends to cost more on ebay than joining a class - you could go join a class , pay the fee, get all the books and an intro from the consultant and then just not go again - prob cost you less.

I find the meetings/group very helpful indeed.

I think it depends on the individual. many posters on here dont attend class but do fantastically well with the plan.

ive considered giving up the class on several occasions but know if I did the weight would slowly creep back on because although I may have weeks when I fall off the wagon, the mere thought of having to explain myself to my consultant and stand on those scales does to some extent keep me on the straight and narrow.

I also enjoy seeing everyone each week. We have a laugh and its great sharing people's achievements because you can relate to how you felt when you got your half stone / one stone award etc

Reporting in with a STS this week. I am not too disappointed, at least it wasn't a gain.:j I had been good all week but let myself down badly over the weekend.

I will try again this week, I only have my daughters birthday to cope with next weekend so once I get past the cake and ice cream I should be ok - well maybe a bottle of champagne but that will definately be it...........I think:o

    Hi all,

    Todays plan is:

Can anyone tell me the syns for Muesli? I had a bowl of about 56g of Jordan's Fruit and Nut muesli. It's not on my list of HEB's, so I'd like to know how many syns it has.

Anyway the meal plan for today is:

Breakfast - Muesli and milk (HEA and ?? syns)
    Snack - Apple and banana
Lunch - Be good to youself egg mayo sandwhich (Free, HEB)
Snack - apple and banana (forgot to stock the fruitbowl over the weekend, so that's all that was left this morning... not very exciting!!)
    Dinner - Bubble & Squeak
    Beans
    2 X Fried Eggs (Free)
    small homemade fruit salad (Free)
Evening snack - cereal and milk (HEA)

College is cancelled this evening, so I'll probably start picking, just out of boredom so I need to get to the shops and restock the fruitbowl to make sure that's what I'm picking at and not the kids lunch box treats!

I've decided to actually join a class. I'm going tomorrow lunch time, but I'm scared (I'm such a wuss). What exactly do you do at the Image Therapy bit? Do they make you talk if you're a bit shy and don't want to? Does anyone else know what your weigh in results are, apart from the consultant? I know I'm being a baby about it, but I am quite worried.

I think it cost me about £35.00 for my food optimising starter pack, my big directory 'bible' and a couple of other little books. It has been more than worth it.

I suppose it depends on circumstances, but it was the best option for me! :T

    hello....may i join here please???:o

I have been on SW just under a week, just doing it at home though as seriously cant afford the extra £4.50 a week. :o been back to class several times so have all the details, mostly sticking to green as its cheap and cheerful! :j

sneakily got on the scales this morning, and i have lost 3lbs so far, so seems to be going well.

just reading through this thread (still only on pg9!) but very inspiring!!
