  • Hi does anyone have a slimming world cheesecake recipe?
    thanks
This is my version adapted from the one on the website

Chocolate treat is perfect for guests – they’ll never believe it’s slimming-friendly!
    Serves: 10
    Syns per serving:
1 Syn on Green, Original and Extra Easy

    5 scan bran
    250g pot quark
2 tsp finely grated orange zest
    100g Vanilla Muller light Yogurt
    5 heaped tsp cocoa/drinking chocolate
    4 level tbsp sweetener
    2 eggs
Mixed berries, 0% fat Greek yoghurt
    Method
    1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4. Crush the scan bran and mix together with Tbsp of boiling water to soften. Mix in 1 heaped Tsp cocoa and 1 Tsp zest of 1 orange. Press into the base of a 20cm spring form cake tin and chill.
    2. Place the cocoa powder, quark, orange zest, yogurt, remaining cocoa powder and sweetener in a food processor and blend until smooth. Beat the eggs and fold into the mixture. Mix well. Spoon the mixture over the biscuit base. Level and bake for 40-45 minutes or until just set.
    3. Turn off the oven and leave the cheesecake to cool in the oven. Cover and chill until ready to serve, then cut into 10 slices. To serve, garnish with mixed berries and a spoonful of sweetened 0% Greek yoghurt and dust with 1 Tsp sweetener.

    Think i might try and plan a few red days this week - I always struggle so any additional ideas to the below are always welcome;
    Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner ideas;
bacon & eggs (in various forms)
    Ham/Mushroom omlette
Breakfast quiche (haven't made this before!)
    Sausage & egg
Chilli con carne (with HEb jacket/wedges)
    Sardies on toast (HEb bread)
Gammon, green beans & SW wedges/chips (HEb with skin on)
Fish & chips (HEb with skin on)
casserole (not overly keen) and jacket pot.

Any others please? :o Need to plan this one carefully as I always struggle and am always hungry on red! :o

    Thanks

    Hey Skinty!

I know what you mean, it's always a hard one! I always struggle with what to have alongside the meat, as sometimes meat and veg just doesn't fill me up! Sometimes I try to dress the veg up, so that it looks like potato or whatever (eg, mashed butternut squash and parsnip), then I would still have a helping of veg as well.

Or I've found having 3 courses at dinner time really helps - mostly tend to have even a small bowl of HM soup to start, and then something like sugar free jelly or whatever for dessert (you can probably find a lot more adventures ideas, but we haven't got as far as being adventurous with the desserts yet!).

I made the roasted butternut squash and beetroot from last months mag, and it was delish!! I actually made it again last night, and just chucked loads of different veg in, so it'll do us today as well!! Along with that last night, we had grilled lamb chops and sausage (which is one of my fav meals!), because there was so much meat and veg it was really filling!

I also find on red days, that I need to keep my HEB's for later in the day, and therefor need to have a totally free breakfast) which seems to always be banana and yoghurt at the moment!!)

Tonight we're having the sausage and bacon casserole from the new mag, I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes!!

Sorry, I don't know that I've really even answered your question! They're just a few things I've found that seem to make red days easier, and make me not so hungry all the time!!

    xx

Thanks CWM - just made some chicken stock so forgot about that! Will not put sweetcorn or noodles in, but maybe some chicken meat and mushrooms. if I just add cooked mushrooms and re-heated chicken to hot stock would this make soup? Never done it before :o

Didn't think about dessert's! That makes sense! Also I have a big fruit salad and plenty of yoghurt so that'll do either brekkie or lunch! Thanks! oooh lamb chops! YUM! Think I've got some pork chops in the freezer so might have to have both while OH is away this week (my danger zone and he's away a lot at the mo :( ) :rotfl:

Not sure, as I've never really made Chicken soup before! I would imagine it would be fine, maybe just a wee bit watery though? You could chuck in whatever other veg you have as well - maybe sweat off an onion in the stock just to give it some more flavour? Even add some garlic maybe?

I'm sure someone'll be along just shortly with a definite answer though! :D

  • Well done retired lady. I'm hoping for 1.5 lbs this week as it would be my first sticker, but with valentines day, I'm not getting too helpful. I had a starter and main from heb and free food and only sinned some extra cheese and dessert (eton mess). **crossing my fingers and toes** :D

How does everyone make veggie soup for a red day? I used to add potatoes to my soup before SW, but if I leave them out, will it be runny when I blend it up?
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!
  • I'm in a rut so to help myself out of it and to try to raise my motivation, I'm remembering why I am doing SW in the first place. I was so motivated last summer and an evening off plan was followed by a week of being 100% on plan to compensate (I rarely lost weight that week, but didn't care as I had controlled myself and managed a spot of damage limitation).

I've got out of the habit of eating loads of things other than bread and for the past week or so I've been eating sandwiches all the time. I felt far better when I was limiting my bread to 1 HEB per day (2 small slices) and my other HEB would be cereal/cereal bar/crispbread.

I need an evening of planning this week's meals and taking the time in the morning to prepare them.

  • Catt, your chicken soup would be more like a chinese soup I think, rather than a thicker english soup. You could try bulking it out by beating an egg, then bringing the soup to the boil and stirring in the egg - hey presto, chicken egg drop soup!

Mooky, vegetable soup whether SW or any other world is so easy and doesn't need potatoes. Make it your usual way (onions & garlic sweated off, add chopped vegetables and seasoning/herbs) but instead of putting in loads of stock liquid add just enough to steam the vegetables. You may then need to add a little more liquid when you blend it, but you will have a really thick and filling soup. (I make it this way in the microwave, it's all done and blended in about ten minutes, that's quicker than going to the shop for a tin of soup and heating it up  )
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

    Hi

I just have a little question for you all please. As of next month I will be joining a group so will be well and truly on a weight loss mission.

The thing is I have just recently started doing my shopping monthly and a lot of the recipes call for low fat yoghurt, Quark etc...could I buy the amount I need for the whole month and then freeze it? Also do you think I could do the same with Mullers?

    Mel x

    Good evening all

I don't have my sw mag with me - could someone remind me which of the John West light lunches is mentioned as having low syns? All the ones i can find on the site are 5 1/2 and over - the mag said one of them is only 2 1/2 syns I think.

Also, do any of you clever people know an alternative recipe for batter/breadcrumbs that I can coat a piece of cod with? (had to write that very carefully):D
  • I coat things in beaten egg, then in cous cous. Works for me. Not quite the same though!
