I was thinking of making a pizza, made with pepperoni, pineapple, chicken, onion, peppers, mushrooms, spicy beef, tomato or passata etc, I don't eat cheese so that's not a problem. I thought I'd be Ok with pineapple as 1 syn and whatever the base is - however a 100g pizza base is 14 1/2 syns so that's out:rolleyes:
Does anyone know any alternatives for a pizza base?
the pepperoni will be synned, just as a heads up......I don't know what the syn value is though.....Italian Salami is 3 on red and 5 on green per ounce..."Stay Wonky":D

firstly I would think that pepperoni and the spicy beef would carry a syn value but not sure.
I know there is a recipe featured in one of the SW mags where potato is used for the base although it seems very hit and miss as to whether it actually works or not i.e. some members have reported parts of the potato cook and other bits dont!! I dont know which mag it is in but there might be something on the online site. will just check......
ok Im back
I found this
This Roast Vegetable Pizza recipe at only 4 Syns per serving is a yummy way to cut out the Syns and try some ‘different’ kinds of topping (anchovies optional!).Serves: 4
Syns per serving:
5 Syns on Original, Green and Extra Easy2 open cap mushrooms
1 courgette
1 red pepper
1 yellow pepper
1 small onion
4 tomatoes
2 garlic cloves
Fry Light
142ml/¼ pint passata
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
113g/4oz pizza base mix1. Prepare the topping ingredients; thickly slice the mushrooms and courgette; deseed and roughly chop the peppers; slice the onion; finely chop the tomatoes and crush the garlic.
2. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/ Gas Mark 6. Place the mushrooms, courgette, onion and peppers on a baking sheet, spray with Fry Light and roast for 25 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, place the tomatoes, garlic, passata and vinegar in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil. Simmer for 20 minutes until thickened. Then allow to cool.
4. Add 5 tablespoons warm water to the pizza base mix and knead for 5 minutes. Then place in a bowl, cover with cling film and leave in a warm place for 25 minutes or until nearly doubled in size. Knead on a lightly floured surface, then roll out to approximately 32cm/13ins x 25cm/10ins and place on a baking sheet. Make a 1cm/0.5in rim around the edge by pressing into the dough with your fingers.
5. Spread the tomato sauce over the base, arrange the vegetables on top, spray with Fry Light and bake for 10 minutes until the pizza base is cooked. Serve immediately.
If you had a HEB left, you could toast some heb friendly bread and put some tomato puree / passata and then your topping of choice and grill. There is a recipe for this somewhere recently too! but cant remember which sw mag! To be honest though the HEB friendly bread is so thin, I would think it would collapse and be a nightmare to eat!!!
I have to be honest though, although not SW friendly, I would go for the pizza base. We all need a treat and in my opinion having gone from eating one pizza at least every week to very rarely eating them I would go for a yummy home made version where the only thing you would have to syn would be the base and have your topping with lots of superfree food including peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn (now we have extra easy :j) may be some ham perhaps, really whatever takes your fancy.
Whilst SW does not encourage us to save up our syns for say that weekly night out when we drink ??? syns, my SW consultant does suggest of those members who enjoy a bottle of wine at the weekend to work out how many syns that bottle of wine is, deduct that from our weekly syn allowance and then divide the syns that are left between the 7 days. so if you allow yourself 15 syns a day, total 105 a week and your bottle of wine is 27 syns (Assuming 9 syns per 250ml of wine and its a 750ml bottle) then you would be left with 78 syns for the week equating to 11 syns a day.
Or you could flexi syn i.e say Im having that pizza base tonight thats ?? syns so my limit for today allowing for that glass of wine is going to be ?? syns. then back to your normal syn allowance the following day.
I think the sw motto is something like nothing is banned and thats true. nothing is banned, we might have to count the horrendous syn value or cut down our syns during the week if we want *insert favourite treat* at the weekend but we can still have it
anyway i seem to be waffling so will shut up now!0 -

Yeah, if you grill it the edges burn before the middle cooks and cold puree/passatta is grim! _pale_ BUT - I've discovered you can bake it in the oven and it doesn't burn. Why? Who knows! But I often have white nimble pizza with SW chips for tea. Also if you want a kick to the tomato base, Napoli doe jars of 'chushed tomatoes' which are free and have garlic and herbs/ peppers and herbs/ chilli and garlic in.0 -
I'm liking this thread and wonder why I've overlooked it before.
Just seeing what others are eating is interesting.
Today I had:
B: 2 wheetabix,
L: HM turkey salad sandwich no spread,
snack: muller yog & bannananot ready yet ...................... roast chicken, roast butternut squash, cauli, carrotts and green beans.
Even though I won't weigh lighter I'm feeling a little better thanks to all that have taken time to lift my spirits on here.

Has anyone tried the Ainsley Harriot Cous cous? I bought a couple of packs in Asda today as I saw they were 2 for £1, are they substantial enough to eat on their own or would you add other things to bulk it out? They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson
