Hello LilacLillie and anyone else with similar problems. You have my heartfelt support, my mum was going to SW and diagnosed with a thyroid problem, and although she was on meds for it her weight loss wasn't going anywhere and she eventually quit SW. Weirdly, now she is managing her weight much better, not following SW rules but eating sensible amounts of sensible foods with a little bit of treat now and again. Horses for courses, SW isn't for everyone and we've all got to find something that we're good at and happy with to be able to succeed!
Whilst reading your posts I had some more ideas for possibly helping your loss which I wonder if you have tried?
1) Sometimes only having one healthy extra A, or none at all and instead ensuring you eat plenty of free yoghurts and other calcium rich foods. I went through a phase the other week when I didn't have meals that I fancied cheese with and was drinking black coffee etc but eating yoghurt every day, and asked my consultant if this was ok and she said yes.
(Incidently have you weighted your healthy extras recently, and double check that they are indeed listed in the books as healthy extras and you're not substituting in e.g. a cheese that isn't listed?)
2) varying your healthy extras, including B choices. Some consultants recommend having a week of trying not to have the same healthy B twice in a week. Gives your body a bit more variety and you more interesting meals.
3) Have you also tried INCREASING the amount of food you eat?
4) You say carbs of any sort are a big no-no for thyoid problem sufferers. I am no expert in this dept. but a "normal" body needs some of every food group: that is almost certainly why you are craving them. Has your doctor actually said cut out ALL carbs? Could you not have a small amount of a sensible carb, e.g. lentils, the more carbohydratey fruits & veg, a Ryvita or two? Come to think of it, what do you have for your healthy B choices? If a full B portion of e.g. new potatoes causes you to put on, would half a portion have the same effect?
5) Exercise, have you tried the body magic books, or just in general upping the amount you move? I would imagine this could help your thyroid as well as burning calories. Don't suddenly become a gym freak, but try small changes, like parking the car further away in the car park at work, taking the stairs not the lift, going for a stroll at lunchtime, even if its for 10 minutes... Last week I stood in the kitchen at work waiting for the kettle to boil and did some step class type moves. Every little helps (although thank god nobody saw me!:rotfl: ).
Finally, I would suggest taking your diet sheets to your appointment and discussing your concerns with them. And well done for carrying on in the face of such adversity :T
x
About me - thanks to everyone who made sensible suggestions for last night. I ordered the fishcakes and fajitas, although both came swimming in oil, and had *ahem*several cocktails, one made with cream! Oh, and I didn't resist the desert, which I'm Sooooooo not going to tell you what it is!!
So as predicted I'm off to the gym later on and will be offering my prayers for forgiveness to Margaret Miles-Bramwell herself!
Today's plan (predictably, no syns for me please!)
b) still in bed suffering from hangover
l) Detox tea and smash with hea cheese, my ultimate "morning after" fuel!
d) Easy veggie chilli - a tin of baked beans, tin of chopped tomatoes and a tin of drained red kidney beans, with chilli powder and onions.
Have a good and on-plan day everyone :T0 -

Yum - that sounds lush!!
:T Yeah, I'd freeze that Eric. Make sure it cools right down and you'll be fine. Mind you, if it's really lovely, you could finish it off tomorrow. I often prefer things the second day. Just put it in the fridge.
Thank you and also thank you to Angie loves veg.
The curry didnt actually make the freezer and was enjoyed over some jacket spuds a short time ago with some extra light laughing cow triangles
It was incredibly easy to make and one I would definitely make again :j I also made some dips including (nb would have been free if criteria for yogurt hadnt been changed)
low fat natural yogurt stirred through with encona hot pepper sauce (encona hot pepper sauce is superfree and VERY HOT :eek::eek:!!!)
low fat natural yogurt stirred through with the tesco lazy chillies in a jar I had in my fridge.
low fat natural yogurt stirred through with (frozen but defrosted) mango chunks cut up into small pieces, chopped fresh chillies and fresh mint.
low fat natural yogurt stirred through with colemans garden mint sauce
They were all really nice (apart from the hot pepper dip - still too hot even when nice cooling yogurt was served with it!)
Hope everyone is having a good day.:j
My menu for today includes: ( i am following extra easy)
3 slices of weight watchers brown danish (HEB) spread with two extra light laughing cow triangles and some sweet chilli sauce (1.5 syns) and grilled bacon with fat removed.
Second breakfast: Mullerlight vanilla yogurt with chocolate sprinkles (Free)
Lunch Jacket potatoes served with leftover curry from night before and my yogurt, mango, mint and chilli dip
followed by another Mullerlight vanilla yogurt with chocolate sprinkles (Free)
Tea at mother in laws - Roast beef, slimming world friendly roasties, veg and gravy (syn) english mustard (syn)
Pudding frozen fruit defrosted and enjoyed with what is left of my yogurt, mint and chilli dip. Might sprinkle some cinamon or nutmeg over or might swirl through a spoonful of honey (syn)
Im tempted to spend my other syns on a glass of wine (6 syns) or a couple squares of chocolate (about 3 or 4 syns). will see.....0 -

Im sorry to hear you are struggling.
I cant offer any better advice than has already been given, just wanted to let you know im thinking of you.
It must be dreadful not losing and sticking to it rigidly, i think fast forward might give you a boost and a change for your body for a week might help things along a bit.
One thing i thought of - are you eating enought syns? I have tried having very few - about 5-6 a day and have tried having the full lot - 15 a day and i get better losses with the most syns!?!? Odd but it works for me, but everyone is different and i guess you will know what works best for you.
Please dont give in yet though - you need the support of your class and consultant even more in bad times. Keep posting and let us know how it goes tomorrow (if you decide to go) xYou can stand there and agonize........

Cauliflower~~
My DH cooked up a HUGE amount of Cauli for sunday lunch and have a heap of it left - how could I turn that into a Cauliflower Cheese SW Style?
Im a rubbish cookbut i dont want it to go to waste ~ if its not too complicated I might attempt it for dinner tonight.

hi Kandi
Pop big chunks of the cooked cauliflower into an oven proof bowl.
Make a white sauce with some cheese as a hea. Pour over cauliflower and bung in oven for about 20 minutes
White sauce from my SW saucy secrets book
4 tsp cornflour
7fl oz skimmed milk
6 tbsp very low fat fromage frais
whisk cornflour and milk together until smooth. Cook over a low heat and gradually add fromage frais.
The only syns would be the cornflour, which is 1 syn per tsp, so this amount of sauce is 4 syns.
Then just add the grated cheese and stir until all smooth.
a tsp of mustard would make it even yummier."Stay Wonky":D

just keep whisking as you are making the sauce as it's heating to prevent any lumps and you'll be fine

I did the cauli cheese from the SW mag last night, mix cauli with a bit of 'fried' onion, make a sauce with a tub (550g) of low fat natural yoghurt, an egg, 84g low fat cheddar HEA and a bit of mustard, cover the cauli and bake 20mins at 220C - really tasty, served 2 and we had it with sweet potato wedges.
OH decided to make bread last night  He made 3 loaves and 9 currant teacakes  Bread is my downfall and I had 1 and a half teacakes with butter:o about 20syns by my reckoning - serves me right!
Today's plan, B: poached eggs and polenta, banana L: spicy root and lentil soup (HM) with a slice of wholemeal breadVeggie haggis (not sure of the syns but will count it as 5) roast (in frylight) potatoes and parsnips with sprouts and carrots. Might have a yoghurt and fruit for pud if I need to.
I still have a B and an A choice to fit in so will use them at supper time:D0 -
Hey FlatEric - just for a change, why don't you try some low fat natural yoghourt??:rotfl: :rotfl: Sorry, couldn't resist!!
I've had cereal, a pear and skimmed milk for breakfast.
Lunch was salmon cooked in tin foil with some herbs and lemon/lime juice. Some delicious small potatoes roasted in their skins (in Fry Lite) a selection of roasted veg (peppers, courgettes, red onions, aubergine, spring onions, tomatoes etc) and we all had the same. Followed by a meringue nest filled with raspberries (from freezer) and a big dollop of 0% Total Greek Yoghourt. I LOVE that stuff!!0
