Well done for getting straight back on track, hon. It's horrible when you have a near-miss - I did that on a roundabout when I was learning - in my DAD's car with him beside me  You'll probably never do it again ;) You were... uh... in the car with someone with a license though at the time, huh? (I'm not the police, I swear!)

Extra lean mince is sooo pricey, it's shocking. Is it cheaper frozen?

My boyfriend was with me! I would NEVER try driving without him, wouldnt dare! The looks he gave me when we finally parked up were classic, if looks could kill and all that!

  • hi everyone well had my second weigh in today and although not as bad as i feared i lost 1/2 lb seems so insignificant in comparison to last weeks 8 1/2 lbs lol! as i said earlier in the week i thought i'd gained after standing on my own scales and nearly dying of shock as i have been really good all week. my consultant recons i haven't been eating enough but i'm struggling with lunches when i'm out during the day with the kids and think it would be better to not eat than go to mcdonalds etc(albeit i would love to lol!)
anyone got any hints or tips to help me this week?

    evening all :j
i am about to sit down for my curry feast BUT I have too much. I didnt make the sweet potato curry just the chicken one in the end but as I got the recipe from the woman mag (from the extra easy menu they featured), I dont know if I can freeze it?

Simply I marinated fresh chicken in yogurt and various spices overnight. Its been cooking for ages on the hob with just onions, a pot of passata and some roasted veg (peppers and leeks)

The yogurt pot says it should not be frozen but that applies to it in its pre cooked state I guess?

Im guessing that once its cooled down, it will be fine to freeze but if anyone can tell me for definite, I would be very grateful :D

    Yum - that sounds lush!!
:T Yeah, I'd freeze that Eric. Make sure it cools right down and you'll be fine. Mind you, if it's really lovely, you could finish it off tomorrow. I often prefer things the second day. Just put it in the fridge. :D
  • I have frozen many yogurt based curries - they freeze well.
  • Daily eating plan Good morning everyone, feeling a little fragile this morning after overindulging in wine last night - will have to be extra good all weekend now for weigh in Monday morning:cool:

    Today I am having:

Breakfast/Brunch - bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, HM citrus fruit salad (free)

Afternoon - scan bran cakes, coffe with milk and and that new muller yogurt with chocolate flakes ( heb, hea, free)

Dinner - turkey steaks cooked in casserole with carrots, parsnips, onions served with mashed potato and mange tout (I know the mange tout sounds a little strange in there but just found them in the dish washer and need to use them up:o)(OK now realised that veg in my dishwasher also sounds a little weird:rotfl:, it broke down a while ago and I havn't bothered to get it repaired so now use it as a cold storage box!:T)

Hope you have a lovely day
    Love from Marion the Weird

Marion - you are a breath of slighty chilled fresh air!Priceless, bonkers, and entirely lovely:p :A :T

  • I must get some pudding rice........I thought I had some but it seems not........I do have a box of arborio rice, wonder if that would work as it's a similar kind of texture........

You can most certainly use arborio rice,Italians often make desserts with it:D

    Evening all,

I've had a stressfull day and treated myself a bit too much at lunchtime, oops!

    Breakfast -
    Hifi bar and diet coke

    Lunch -
Pizza Express salad, I think it was called nastramo (?!) garlic bread and a huge toffee ice cream sundae!

    Dinner -
    Chicken and pepper curry

I reackon the syn count today will be quite high from the ice cream, avocado in the salad and garlic bread....oh dear.

I just couldnt resist though after the almost disaster in the car park this morning. I was dazzled by the sun and nearly wrote off my car on a bollard, I havent even passed my test yet and thought that driving into town today would be good practise, lol!

Never mind, I'll make up it all tomorrow, I'm having a red day and looking forward to making a yummy spicey beef burger.

(anyone know why extra lean beef mince is so expensive? a pack in Tesco this afternoon cost me the best part of £5!!!)

Well you can pay for 100% meat,or 50 percent meat,a bit of fat,a bit of gristle,a bit of rusk (or other filler) and a lot of water!Either way it works out expensive,IMO!You could buy lean beef and pulse it in a food processor to mince it yourself.Everything works out cheaper when you do it at home - plus you know EXACTLY what is in it:D

Meat is expensive (even 'cheap' meat - yuk!) because it costs a lot to raise an animal for at least 6 months, feed it,house it,clean it,pay vet bills, pay for innoculations (and most likely antibiotics so you have lower vet bills),slaughter, butchery, and finally for the supermarket to mince it and pass the price on to customers at a 'bargain' 2 for 1 rate.Sorry but meat SHOULD be expensive, else it's not worth the fuel to cook it!
