Hi Charlton - I agree with trying to find a local Slimming World Group. You will probably have a fairly significant loss in the first week say 3-5lbs but then will lose a healthy and steady 1-2lbs per week. which would only take you a few months to get to your target weight. Also feel free to come in here and quiz us whenever you want, you are more than welcome.:)

I'm afraid my doctor would think your 'healthy and steady 1-2lbs per week', for most people, amounts to a crash diet which would be bound to fail as the body recognises it is losing mass.

Something much more modest - but very difficult to achieve for that very reason - is what's needed to fool the body's perceptions. Perhaps a pound a month.

My aim would be to take off the stone I need to lose - permanently - in about 18 months, so that fits in with the strategy. But how to do it? Micro-finessing of diet in this way is, I understand, the as yet unattained Holy Grail of the 'slimming industry'... or could it be they actually don't want to find it... eh..?

    Cut out booze, seriously.
Oh and to loose a lb a month you only need to cut out 125 calories a day. Do you have sugar in your tea?

Hmmm, has he not suggested to you how to achieve this very, very slow weight loss??

Maybe cutting out all sweets/crisps/alcohol (don't know if you indulge in any of these anyway) and maybe do a little extra walking each week.....
OR - maybe you could follow SW theories, but if you find you are losing too quickly, you could up your intake in certain foods (i.e healthy extras) so as to level it out a bit??

Because Slimming World is a lifestyle change and not a diet as such, although you would lose maybe 1-2lb a week, it would be so easy to maintain this as you carry on following the plan just with added healthy extra `b` and `a` choices.
So possible you could follow the plan with these extras includes from the start just to get you into the way the plan works, and maybe just cut you heathly extras and syns down for a fews days a week to maintain a slower loss??

It has just become part of everyday life now, the kids eat the same as us and have noticed no difference apart from they are eating more.

I have lost 2stone 3 lb in just under 11 months, and now even on the weeks i think sod it ((lol have one or two of them) i tend to maintain or have a really small gain maybe 0.5lb as my body is used to the way i eat now.

  • HI everyone only a 1lb loss for me this week on my 2nd week back, after 4.5lbs last week it seems a bit disapointing but I suppose it's in the right direction :T Consultant shtinks maybe I'm not eating enough

Has anyone noticed a quicker/slower loss with red/green versus EE ?

Also I've been trying out the Joes sausgages and had them once or twice last week, How do we know that they definatly are syn free ? The company havea certificate but surly there recipe would vary slightly form batch to batch ?

Debt free HOORAY !:T :A Years from now it won't matter what kind of car we drove, what kind of house we lived in, how much money we had in the bank, nor what our clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, we were important in the lives of our children.

I can't see how losing 1-2lb a week is still a 'crash' diet - SW suggest that this rate is optimum for being able to keep it off - faster than this (4lbs+ a week is a crash diet). Losing 1lb a month won't improve any aspect of your health  Upping your walking, cutting out refined sugars from your diet will all help, but i'm very surprised the Dr has suggested doing it quiet so slowly - the nurse I see is annoyed if I don't lose 8lbs a month and assumes I'm cheating  Speaking of the old witch i'm going to see her tonight for more tablets and I need to ask her if the ones I'm on are inhibiting my loss.

Joe's sausages have been going for quite a while and they are endorsed by SW. I think doubting that they are selling what they say they are selling is a little paranoid.

We either have to trust that we're being told the truth by manufacturers or stop buying their products. Anyway, unless you're having a pound of sausages every day, I doubt that it would make a difference to your overall weight loss ven if they did carry a syn or two.

Your results are very good up to now so relax, enjoy your food and watch the pounds disappear :)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
