Does anyone know how many syns standard beef mince has? I've tried looking at syns online but a bit confused with it.

I always fry any mince that isn't extra lean (and therefore not free) on it's own and then drain it really thoroughly, squashing it down in a sieve with a saucepan to get every bit of grease out. This way,as far as I'm concerned,it is then free. After all, even extra lean minced meat have up to 7/8 grams of fat per 100 grams - my method definately works out less than this!

I do the same, I have even been known to rinse it out in a colander before returning it to the saucepan. It works out a lot cheaper than the low fat ones!:money:

    Thanks C xx

and water yes? Thanks Kel
  • yesterday was a bit of a syn fest in the end - 2 small pieces of cake 2 ginger biscuits and 2 big spoonfuls of double cream! Oh well, not the end of the world and I've moved on already.

    Today:

b: prune WW yog, banana and 140g prunes in juice (heb)
l: HM egg fried rice with oyster sauce (1 syn)
d: beef with vegetables in the slow cooker with pasta

hea will be some mozzarella over the beef and pasta

Won't spend any syns at the moment as I'm teaching tonight and there will be ginger biscuits and couble cream on offer again after the demonstration!

I've definitely realised that the key to me and my eating centres around eating consciously with a bit of emotional eating thrown in. How many times have I opened a box of chocolates and the next time I've looked I've had about 8 one after the other? Or been working at the PC and looked down to see my lunch is almost finished?! Maybe I've finally found the key to what I need to really concentrate on to lose weight for once and for all.

You certainly will be 'moving' on after all those prunes....:D
