    hi retired lady

I don't have much in the house until my shopping is delivered on 2nd, so it's a case of what is already here and I don't have any fruit or much veg. I hav a tub of frozen chunks of mango in the freezer, but when I defrosted some a few months back, they were really unripe and horrid. I have 2 onions and some peppers, but nothing else!

Something I did wonder - what about between meals? Just fruit? superfree foods?

It is hard to manage without the proper food in the house isn't it:rotfl: . You could have a baked onion with your dinner or maybe roast pepper and onions? In between meals - I do normally munch on fruit but I don't normally find I am hungry between meals that much or I fill up on bottles of sugar free lemon squash. Or you could use some of your syns for inbetween meal snacks? Frozen grapes are quite nice as are frozen bananas!

Anything you would normally have on either day - fruit is probably a good one though. If it has syns then take the lowest (i.e. 3syns on a gree day, 10 on a red - then its 3 syns)
  • I love frozen bananas, must get back into the habit of freezing them before they go manky and I turn them into banana bread - can't do that any more!

It just seems a bit more 'set' with 3 meals, rather than eat what you want on a green or red day whenever you want to.

I can see my shopping bill being high this week. Gulp.

I will have to think about it all a bit more. I don't eat dinner until around 8.30pm - I'll be chewing my fingers off by then if I don't have anything apart from fruit after lunch!

You can still have yoghurts, mugshots, cold meat, Alpen Bars/Hi-Fi's (as syns or your 1 HeB) etc as snacks - anything you normally had!

Quite right! You can still eat all that free stuff from red and green days! Slices of ham rolled around a spoon of cottage cheese is nice, or a nice bowl of synfree soup fills you up before dinner.

  • I've just popped out and bought a few bits of fruit and veg. to tide me over as well as some baked beans. I feel a bit happier about having a few more choices available for tomorrow and the 2nd Jan until the shopping comes.

I am though, suddenly rather emotional. I've been here before. Many times and I'm trying to be realistic in the probability of me not getting anywhere, which scares me :(

  • Just popping on to wish you all a Happy New Year. Congrats to all those who mustered up the willpower to breeze through Christmas with damage limitation and commiserations to those others like me who indulged!

BB - you are in the right frame of mind to get you where you want to go. Hold on to that motivation because that is what's going to see you through. Who cares if you've been here before? If you have, then you know the pitfalls and each time you learn more about yourself and what it takes to succeed. You have everyone here on your side and there's some really knowledgeable people who can give you all the support you need if you don't have a group to go to.

Judds - At least you know how much damage you caused. I have been too scared to get on the scales until I've been on the wagon for 2 weeks or so!

    Hi All.

You have had good repiles about your other queries, so I hope you know that you are on the right track with your plans.

Sounds like you need a bit of support right now :grouphug: - maybe it feels like you have a mountain to climb - I wonder if *because* you have been here before, you know the commitment that will be needed to see this through ....

BUT I can't see there is any probablility of 'not getting anywhere'... I liked your idea of smaller targets, I think it is a good way to stay motivated.... did you say 1 st by end of Jan?

Is there something you could treat yourself to when you achieve your smaller goals? This can be both a motivator and a reward! some ideas...

£1 a lb to spend on yourself?
    a cake/takeaway/chocolate bar/something you feel is best avoided on a day-to-day basis?
    a new necklace/earrings?
    massage?
    a new top/trousers?

BB - We do understand how you feel. I have lost 7.5 stone and still need to lose at least another 10 stone:o. Sometimes I can not figure out which scares me the most - not losing it or losing it. At times losing it is much scarier:o:eek: Don't think about how much weight you have to lose. Try to get through just one day at a time - or at times just try and get through the next hour! I have been there and I am not joking, I have broken it down sometimes to 15 minute segments. But eventually the panic goes away for awhile and we settle back into the plan till our next panic!:o
