Natwest / Icesave ISA

I'm afraid my husband and I are suffering at the incompetant hands of Nat West. Between us we have nearly £30k invested in ISA's. We both set up our transfer from Icesave and wrote out cheques mid December, at different Nat West branches. My husbands has been delayed because the branch only took copies of the Icesave certificate (he actually received a phone call from their Tax dept!) He had the originals faxed from the bank just after Xmas and now they say that they require the money. Just what are they playing at!
In my case my branch took the originals and gave me a photcopy of the certificate. I have not heard anything. I spoke to their head office and told them that I was losing interest on the monies,I was advised to stick it into a savings account for 20 days. This deadline was up a week ago and the money is now sitting in current account. I suppose the only blessing is that it would not be earning that much interest even in a savings account at the moment.
I have never before dealt with such an incompetant bank and the fact that you are unable to telephone their tax department ,who are the cause of all these problems, makes for very poor customer sevice.
I doubt if I will be leaving the money in their ISA for very long, that is if it ever gets there in the first place! What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
Wont really help but as per my post of 4.1, cheque etc posted to Natwest 12.12 and cheque credited to account 31.12. I've spoken to a couple of other folk who tell me that their accounts also took about 19 days to be credited. So, it'll be interesting to see if this is about right and your account(s) are credited today'ish.
Oh aye and it looks as if interest is being paid from the date this outfit decides to put the money in the account.
Just a shower, no wonder there's a growing clamour for something like a National Giro Bank II. At least that'll waken banks like these *$$..* up again!
Similar situation to previous posters. My ISA account finally credited after 22 days in limbo.
I emailed Natwest with my complaint, took a while to find the box as they try to fob you off first with the standard reply junk phrases. Received a reply yesterday from "customer relations", saying the matter had been referred back to my local branch after "initial investigations".
I'm pushing for interest for the lost 22 days, plus compensation for the unnecessary hassle involved in the intervening period. This will doubtless involve yet another trek down to the local branch as surprise, surprise, they have still to contact me after yet another failed promise made during my last visit.
I wonder who dreams up the meaningless slogans now seen everywhere alongside company headings. Natwest website: "helpful banking" . Lol! Another beaut when entering Lancashire: "where everyone matters". Yeah, right!0 -
Eventually got to the branch today after a very difficult trip. . flat tyre, couldn't get to the jack in the boot, had to phone nice AA man. Not a good day.
Anyway, woman in there told me they had chased my application today, and that it should be processed today. Pigs might fly.
No money has yet been credited to my ISA account, I have 39k sitting in my current account, and it's now past close of business. I despair. I really do despair.
I shall see what happens overnight, and on Monday I'm going back to the branch, closing the account, and going elsewhere. I don't care what crap rate I get. I just want my ISA funds reinvested. Can't be arsed with all this grief anymore.0 -
If anyone has some Nat West phone numbers or email addresses that they have found useful whilst searching for there ISA cheque and transfer docs, would they post them here. I think that I maybe needing them soon. 12 days so far and my money is still in my current account.
Thanks0 -
went into the branch today to see what he process is in gettting back my lost intrest from the near £18k they put into a savings account instead of my ISA and which took 26 days to finally transfer into the right acount. talked to another numb nut of a counter assistant who didnt have a clue what i was telling them even though i repeated myself 20 times. i dont think these idiots can get it through their heads that the icesave transfer is exactly that.a transfer. which means u transfer all of the money in your ISA not just 3600 and a month later they decide that yes its a transfer after all and the rest of the money can go into your account after our crap tax department pull their fingers out of their backsides. he seemed to think this was a normal process. anyway the guy who opened my account is off ill so ill wait till hes back and deal with him directly. i have a sneak feeling they are going to try to claim this is normal practice. well its a good way of conning ppl out of intrest if it is. no wonder they make u open a savings account at the same time so they can stick your money in there while their tax office mess about0

Thanks
The first option is for complaints, and they did eventually answer mine.
Hope this helps0 -
sallysaver wrote: »Hi,
I have just spoken to the FSCS regarding duplicate certificates. The call was answered within seconds and by an extremely polite and helpful lady. She noted my request, went to seek assistance, apologised for the delay (minimal) and said it should be no problem and to write in with the account numbers and a brief explanation of what had happened. I'm now off to post the letter (recorded delivery) and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be too long until I hear from them. Sally
SallyS. Could you post the contact name and address at the FSCS where you requested your duplicate ISA cert. Thanks0 -

Hi,
There is no specific name required but the address is Financial Services Compensation Claim, 7th Floor, Lloyds Chambers, Portsoken Street, London E1 8BN. Hope this helps - Sally0 -
Received a letter from Tw@twest's complaints department yesterday thanking me for my complaint, and that as per my request, my ISA reinvestment application has been cancelled.
I've made no request to have it cancelled, and I've not YET made a complaint.

It beggars belief! I just hope that those in their Ivory Towers are reading this forum (that's if they can read) and do all they are capable of, to stop this nonsense! Sally0
