I really feel we need to get Martin on to this. Natwest's customer service has been appalling for quite a few people who tried to reinvest their Icesave ISA funds.0

I have an Icesave ISA reinvestment certificate for £20k, however I don't have £20k to invest as Ive already spent some of it.
Am I able to use the certificate to pay in say £10k into an ISA? i.e. can you use the cert to pay money into the ISA below the value on your certificate?0 -

Would have thought so. The important thing is not to exceed the certificate value at time of paying in.
You would only have a problem if you tried to "top up" later.0 -
Hi,
I have just spoken to the FSCS regarding duplicate certificates. The call was answered within seconds and by an extremely polite and helpful lady. She noted my request, went to seek assistance, apologised for the delay (minimal) and said it should be no problem and to write in with the account numbers and a brief explanation of what had happened. I'm now off to post the letter (recorded delivery) and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be too long until I hear from them. Sally0 -
a pig has just flown past my window. after being able to get back into their internet banking site ive checked my account and majority of my ISA that had been put into their savings account instead has now been transfered into its rightfull place. so my ISA is now back to its full amount. its only taken nearly a month.
my next issue is sorting out the intrest that iam owed.this is where i could do with abit of help from those who have a clue about maths and what not. i dont want to get ripped off by natwest. so heres the figures. i opened the account on 12 december and the money was transfered into my account at last on the 7th jan. so thats 26 days of lost intrest. the amount was £17,941 the rate was 4.93% but from jan 2nd if im reading it right its now 4.16%. any help would be appreciated0 -
Having got out the old Bear Abacus, after a large amount of coloured bead shuffling, I'd be happy with about £65 gross.
But my maths isn't good. I'm sure there must be an internet site that will calculate interest for you.0 -
I've just had a run in with a couple of half wits in some Natwest Yorkshire call centre. They both sound thick as s*** and said the likes of "we ain't gonna know what's happended to your cheque, sounds like its the branch's fault".
I completed the transfer form, personal cheque and they took a copy of the FCSC certificate on 18th December. The branch manager handled it himself and assured me it wouldn't take long to get credited, however so far nothing has happened.
Does anyone know if they will automatically backdate the interest do the day I handed in the forms or if I only earn interest from when they cash the cheque? At least if I know I'm not missing out on any further interest I won't get so bloody wound up with dealing with the wait to get it sorted and all the idiots involved.0 -

Zoe, this is exactly my situation other than I handed in my cheque and transfer form the day after you. As with you, Natwest haven't credited my ISA account or put my cheque through clearing. I've twice been to the branch since my initial visit, and have been told that interest will be backdated to the date when I opened the account.
I'm going back to the branch tomorrow to see if anything has come of the trace which was put on my documents. I will hand over a new cheque and make a few pertinent observations about the need for some sort of financial recompense for all the hassle.0 -
Wont really help but as per my post of 4.1, cheque etc posted to Natwest 12.12 and cheque credited to account 31.12. I've spoken to a couple of other folk who tell me that their accounts also took about 19 days to be credited. So, it'll be interesting to see if this is about right and your account(s) are credited today'ish.
Oh aye and it looks as if interest is being paid from the date this outfit decides to put the money in the account.
Just a shower, no wonder there's a growing clamour for something like a National Giro Bank II. At least that'll waken banks like these *$$..* up again!0
