I went into a branch on 16th Dec with my certificate and the bank details to where my £22k resided. I had confirmation that the account was opened on 23rd Dec, despite numerous calls since then trying to make things happen, the money has still not gone through. Last Friday after visiting the branch I had a call telling me that they'd lost all the details I'd given them - including the original copy of my certificate! They have told me that everything will still be okay, but I need to visit the branch again today to fill the original form in again.

I filled in the forms again and had verbal confirmation that I still qualified for the 4.5% and that the interest would be backdated to the date of my original application. I requested written confirmation of this but despite being told that it would be no problem, it never arrived. A couple of weeks later I was called by their tax office who asked me to transfer the money directly myself, which I did. The money arrived, but since then I have had problems getting the interest as promised. I called the branch four or five times, always speaking to someone who couldn't really help and was told each time that someone would call me back within three hours. On Monday someone finally returned my call. They told me that it wouldn't be possible to have my interest back-dated, saying that I shouldn't have been told this. I insisted that they had an obligation to me, and I was told that a more senior member of staff would contact me on Wednesday (today). As yet, I've still not been called, but I've just checked my balance and I was credited yesterday with around £200 - which is the sort of figure I was expecting for the backdated interest. At last!

So we both opened our account on the same day, yours with 22k, mine with 25k and you've been given more interest than me??? I really do give up!!!

When I have some time I will sit down with the interest rates and try and work out exactly how much I think I should have received......just when I thought it was all sorted! What's really annoying is they just deposited an amount in my account without telling me how it was calculated.
What goes around comes around.....I hope!
