Hi twoyearson, thanks very much for that! I am keeping looking for things - will stick with my job until I get something better.
Thanks everyone too - just glad I don't have to go through the interview process at the moment. And to think I used the medium sized "cause of BR statement" - :rotfl: maybe they would have just discharged me if I used the "full" version! :rotfl:

Morning everyone,
A good post from twoyears on regarding looking for a job when you are "over the age" that they think they are looking for.
I totally agree and I am also the oldest person in my work situation, but I am also the one who can be relied upon, has the knowledge and the experience to deal with a great many situations that leave the youngsters scratching their heads or taking a couple of days off!!
It is a nice feeling when you have downsized - no longer do I take my job home with me at night and the income is no longer a major priority thanks to the BR. I can live a little again.
Good luck Donna in finding something else.
Fantastic news re the OR and I hope today is as sunny in your neck of the woods as it is here.
Enjoy.....

Hi SA, we have lovely clear blue skies! Going out for a ride on my bike later in my get fit attempts! Already been on the exercise bike for tens mins and the rowing machine for ten mins today!
Have you been horse riding again yet? And when are going to visit your daughter or have you been already?
Feel like I have loads of energy today! Weird!

Donna
Hi there, sorry for the delay - been writing an essay for my voyage thread
I try and go horse riding every wednesday, I have become a member there and this gets me a discount on my lessons. I don't smoke or go out so regard it as my little luxury in life!
I went to see my daughter last weekend and it was great. I am hoping to go down again towards the end of May. It was lovely to be able to take the train and not spend 5 hours cooped up in the car on the motorways. I am always worried in case I breakdown, especially now without a flexible friend to help me out!
Have a good bike ride, it is raining here now so I hope it stays bright for you. I am still going swimming most days, marvellous for the aches and pains and of course, the old bones!
Hugs

Well it did not stay nice for my Bike ride the other day, we actually ended up with some hailstones so I didn't go.
But I did today, to work and back!
Ok it was alright going to work as it is downhill! But on the way back it was a bit of a killer! Still I will get better as time goes on I guess.
I do have a question! I am one of those bad bank people who will get a bonus this month!Sorry
My question is - since I am not having an interview with the OR which they decided was not necessary, should I tell him about the bonus?? Will he want it?
I think the answer will be yes, tell him, but I just would like it confirmed please since they don't want to interview me. I wish I had an interview for this reason, then I could have asked about it. Now I have to do the deed and phone them and ask.
Hope everyone is well.

How much are you expecting Donna?
I bet unless it is really substantial they will let you keep it, far too much hassle...
You should be able to treat yourself!

Hi SA, I am not sure but it is potentially 16.5% but there could be a deduction on this due to all the bad press about bonus so it might not be this much.
if it is 16.5%, after tax and ni, it would probably be about £650 - I think that this is too much for the OR to ignore really. but if there is an additional deduction which we think there might be, then it would be £590. all approx figures. will need payslip to see for certain.
Hope that makes sense kinda!

Absolutely....perfect sense. Personally I think it is too much of an amount for you not to declare it (others may disagree) but I still get the feeling that they will let you keep it. Any major expenses due that you can plea bargain?

Yes I know. I think it is too much too not to declare it. I have tried call my OR twice today but he has been in a meeting all afternoon since I got home from work. I will try call them again tomorrow.
Car is due it's mot and service and insurance this month, but since I don't drive it for work, does not really apply to me but it would be nice as OH's income is going to be stretched once he sorts all that out this month.
I will be telling them about it. Thanks for the common sense SA! I really don't want to be getting into any trouble!
