Oh dear, someone really has got their underwear in a twist over this, haven't they LOL ;) you really need to take a chill pill :D
I do actually have a note in my car windscreen, but obviously people do not bother to read it and there are also 2 child seats in the rear,so if I were looking in the car, then I would make the assumption that there are children using the car ;) my father isn't always with us,so there is absolutely no way my children are going to stand alone in a car park.
Surely it's just plain politeness to leave sufficient space for someone to get into their car and just how do you expect me to get in from the other side? I cannot climb across due to MY disibilty  I can assure you,I take no pleasure in denting people's cars, but as I said,I have done this ONCE.I even had the number plate called out in the supermarket to ask to be moved, but even that didn't work,as the person had obviously gone off into town and used the supermarket car park to park free!

Yes, I am afraid I do get my knickers in a twist when I read about people deliberately damaging cars! Are you suggesting it is a perfectly normal thing to do and I should just see it as one of those things? Surely not?

Well, the details about the note in your window and going back to the store to have them call the driver, have come out on subsequent posts, as I have brought up possible solutions, and I am always a little wary when people bring in important points later on...

Lol,I am not talking about moving your car across the car park. It is already in the quiet area, as you have said, so what I am talking about is moving your car a few feet forward and I see no reason why your children are unable to stand still while you do that?

Perhaps you could look into getting a badge for yourself then as in the first post you say it is your father that needs the badge and won't get one?

But yes, I make no apologies for being angered at someone who blatantly admits denting a car. Perhaps I have too much respect for others and their property...

I wouldn't park close to another car either mind and get annoyed about it myself - I just draw the line at deliberately denting their car.
  • Yep, went to our local Tesco Extra at 4am the other day on the way back from a few days away.

There must be thousands of spaces(ok maybe a slight exaggeration - sp?) and only half a dozen cars there. Parked up, shopped, came out and there was literally dust width between me and the car next to me.

I guess the problem would not have existed except he was against my drivers door............and the passenger door was adjacent to a trolley shelter.

    Knobhead

Several choice words ensued when he returned to his car(and they were not all polite!!
  • Yeah but some idiots just ask for it, you put your car in a really bad parking spot you are either an idiot or you dont care about your car. I drive a very large Nissan patrol and it does fit into tescos bay and i am very careful to put it straight in the bay squarely its not that difficult. But the amount of times i have come out and some idiot has parked over the line clearly blocking the drivers door opening wide enough. Well if they cannot be bothered to park right they are going to get a door ding and believe me a patrols door has some weight.

I am sorry, but deliberately banging someones car door is a pretty idiotic thing to do, even if they have parked near you. That is in the same mentality as punching someone for "looking at you funny"

AS the car park was empty, could I ask why you chose to park adjacent to a trolley park? Seems a bit odd, and pretty much the same as parking right next to another car if you ask me.

I had one recently where I had parked sensibly, came back to the car after shopping and discovered that someone had parked over the line and about an inch away from the drivers door to my car.

I climbed in the passenger side, much to the mirth of my children who thought the sight of seeing mum struggling over the gear box rather funny and slid (ok, struggled) into the drivers seat.

Blimey was I hot and bothered by the time I got sorted....but I would never have even considered damaging (by accident or not) another persons car.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

What I want to know is how people park one (SingleSue), or two (livinginhope), inches away from another parked car without taking both wing mirrors off?

Mine was pushed flat to my car....the other thing that really peed me off.

Thankfully, I was able to push it back to its normal position and it had no real damage.

Thats why they do it, give it a good thump they wont do it again.
  • I also think you are looking at this the wrong way, i would not be willing to clamber over the gearbox etc to get into my car. So i only have one option and thats to go in the drivers door not totally unreasonable. Now if they have parked too close then im afraid that as i squeeze in, their door is going to get damaged. Ohh dear never mind maybe they will learn next time.
