  • Are you glad that you gave the stressful job a chance in the first place, findingmyfeet? The current career I'm considering for when I graduate is very interesting, dynamic etc (and well-paid!) but also quite stressful so I'm busy trying to research firms which provide the best work-life balance possible in that field, but it's a tricky one. I think I'd feel frustrated if I didn't give that kind of job a shot so I can see what I'm capable of, if that makes sense? Then maybe later I could downsize, go part-time, or whatever, like you've done. I'm glad you're happy with your decision :)

  • Skint_chick, I've gone from a Senior Manager at an American Finance Company to a Lollypop Lady at my son's school, with a couple of cleaning jobs and i've never been happier. Huge weight off my shoulder too!! Once you get over caring what other people think and reclaim your life, it feels great.

Very lucky for you to have done this and be happier. I hope one day to find the strength to do it myself.

With what is happening with Appr0ved F00ds the secret is out of the bag, hope prices wont go through the roof in one go.

  • hi ANDROMACHE- certainly glad i did it. Loved what i was doing when i started, worked my way up , proved to myself i could 'get there' and thats when the trouble started. Nothing like finding out who your friends ARENT!! juggling fulltime work with over time , 2 kids, self employed hubby, all the houseworks shopping etc is no jke believe me. Towards the end it was just one almighty chore and i was constantly worn out and hipper stressed. I basicly had no life. Added to that colleagues who wanted the job for themselves turned out to be total back stabbers and made life difficult. I did however leave when it suited me not anyone else, i just knew the time was right and leapt............and im still alive to proof it. Glad i did it all and now i know why i appreciate what i have now.

  • AFternoon all,
Just a quick one from me as work is crazy and I need to finish my essay. Had to go up to london today to sign on with an agency, not a cheap trip, £3.70 for parking at the station then £17.90 for a travelcard! Also bought a coffee and a sarnie as I didn't have time for breakfast before I left (had to be in West end for 8am) so that was another £5+. My total for this month is just creeping up, I haven't even been food shopping for over a week! Gotta get cat food today so that will be another £5 on the total. On the plus side, I put 50+ books on amazon yesterday and have sold 4 already so that will offset the cost abit.
    Happy days all!!!!

Debt as at Feb 14: £2272.40

  • I am also a virtual spopper. My faves are Yves Rocher and Boots. I browse, I fill up the basket, I look, I think, and then empty the vasket and close the page. I do this on Amazon too. Good thing with Amazon is the wishlist. Glad its "normal"-maybe its an MSE thing?
Like the "head in the sand syndrome"HISS"-I think we have a new abbreviation!
Not spending today. DH asked if I was going out shopping and I said no-I can't! Lack of space syndrome "LOSS".
I should force myself to go swimming tho as I need some easy excersise and the doc has rather prompted me this morning! I had bought a ticket for 12 swims last year and still have 11 left-its a good marker of my pathetic attempt last year. So I won't even have to pay for it!
Pork hock in SC with a homemade s/sour concoction in it. Should be very nice come teatime. Must get something for tomorrows lunch as Im working-maybe the ryvitas from AP that Ive opened. Just used up the parsnip soup.
Got locked out of internet banking so had to phone them yesterday. Glad I did as one of the accounts was paying only 1% so Im now opening an extra account. That was A & L Premiersaver if anyone has it! Now moving to esaver. I should have been watching it. Glad they told me.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

Spoke to my friends health visitor about DD's fundal height and she said it's not a very accurate way of measuring anyway:D The little mite is kicking hell out of DD so I think she's fine:rotfl: :rotfl:

Candygirl when my middle dd was having baby no 2 I drove her to hospital appointments every week for several weeks to have a scan but she was not sure why they were doing them so often so I eventually asked them and they said the baby is too small so we are keeping an eye on it. That "small" baby weighed in at 8lbs1oz . My daughter is only 5'2'' and her husband is not much taller so what were they expecting, Goliath? I actually said this to the midwife.
