Just spotted something in the T&Cs which should be noted:
They normally charge a joining fee but this will be waived "provided membership is continued without a break from the end of the free membership period".

So looks like you need to continue your membership (at the reduced rate of £25 for being a Pruhealth member) for at least a month after the end of the 6 months. Spread this cost over 7 months for calculation purposes and it still comes out at under £25 a month (my premium is £21 a month).

i took that clause as meaning that the activation fee for the NEW (i.e. non-free, subsidised) membership would be waived as long as you carried straight through from the free to the subsidised memberships without a break.

the text reads: "At the end of the free membership term PruHealth subsidised gym membership can be commenced by providing PruHealth with your direct debit details. The activation fee on the new membership will be waived, provided membership is continued without a break from the end of the free membership period."

in this context my reading seems likely, but i'm not so sure now :S

    any thoughts from anyone?

    I agree with you Ferris.

Also for those who wanted just the 6mths (god forbid! lol) the following term is most certainly sounding good....

Please note that if you cancel your PruHealth membership your Cannons or Holmes Place membership will also be automatically cancelled.

To me that means anytime you cancel the pruhealth, the gym is cancelled too and surely the gym cant hold you to a contract then?

Its a shame that there is nothing nearby!! I'm near Southampton and the closet centres and Farnborough and Portsmouth -- miles away!!! darn!!

You could always jog, that would cut out the warm up routine. ;)

Can't answer that one, but it might be worth phoning them, and doing a little smooth talking - nothing ventured.....

You can still get 25 a mth membership I see from the site. thats a permanent benefit. but the free 6mths is gone and 100quid of boots vouchers replaces it :( awww.

I got mine the last day in the end so it better be included! lol.

oh yeah about the 12mths thing. that doesnt bother me so much. my health cover is 25 per month, 6mths gym free then 6mths gym at 25 = 37.50 a months for a gym that costs twice that alone! Cant complain....
