I remember reading in the pack that PruHealth will be paying the gym our membership fees where we in turn pay PruHealth every month.
When i took up the policy, i did ask the agent whether i can cancel the gym membership after 6 months and was told that's possible.
Could someone advise on this.
Thanks.0 -
thanks ma but how do you know for sure that david lloyd will be onboard?0

spoke to a advisor and she told me that new for 2006 they were offering 6 months membership-at my club that is. I would phone up holmes place and ask your club if they are offering 6 months membership.0

I'm with Cannons, where you get a fitness assessment and a gym training plan for free. You can update your training plan with one of the staff members at any time, I think they recommend monitoring it at 4-6 week intervals.
The gym staff are very helpful on the phone as well so I would suggest if people have got general queries about what is included in the membership, give your local club a call and have a chat with them.0 -
hi
when is david lloyd's joining in
any news please0 -
Excellent thread- thanks to OP. Just joined at £18.77 a month!
Membership at my local Holmes Place is normally £50 a month so even after 6 months i'll be saving £6.23 with free private health insurance. Assuming i can go twice a week and achieve platinum status at month 12 then next years monthly premiums will be £1.88 + £25 gym = £23.12 saving per month or £277.44 per year.
Now the only problem is making sure I go often enough to make all this worthwhile as the money i just 'saved' by changing mobile contracts is paying for this!!
Had a look at my local club page on Holmes Place website and it offers a free nutrition group one evening a week which others might be interested in if you are wanting to improve health/ lose weight as well as improve fitness. Might be worth seeing if yours does too?0 -
sadly it works better for you young folks. As a 40 pluser the premiums are 40 plus (quite a bit) and since I cant afford gym membership anyway I cant afford this either. Back to the council pay as you go for me!0

Clowance, did you opt for the highest excess on the policy, and did you tick all the boxes for the extra 30% off the premium price ? (i.e., that you don't smoke, had a cholesterol test etc.) If you haven't then it could bring the cost down.0

Hi, I have the same problem as Clowance and yes I did all that. At 51 its not good news. You obviously know you're past it when the premium is close to the membership fee. Trouble is they won't take my 16 year old either,as principal has to be at least 18!0

Anyone at the moorgate or barbican branch? If so, what do you think of it - and hows the swimming pool?
My premium works out just under £17  If i set excess at £1000, does that mean that if i make a claim i end up paying the first £1000? They don't charge me £1000 when i join or anything right?0
