thriftlady wrote:MATH, why shouldn't Alvin Hall be mentioned?-is just because he's not Martin or is his advice not good?
I'm just wondering
I woz being silly, just cos he's not Martin:D IMO his advice is excellent (just like Martin) but he approaches things from a different perspective and offers a different emphasis.

Hello again everyone
Am having a break for a wee while from my books. It's going OK, should get lots done today, though am feeling tired. Will have some pro-plus tablets for now, but fingers crossed will sleep properly tonight.
Curry_Queen....fantastic news about going out in the car, I am absolutely delighted for you!
JW...gosh, your story sounds a bit like mine...I've had a horrible couple of years. You are absolutely 100% right that this forum is very important. It's a bit like a house being much more valuable than a pile of bricks, wires and pipes...couldn't put a price on MSE forums really.
MATH - have you seen Martin's blog? He bumped into Alvin recently, and they might actually collaborate on a show together. I think they complement each other very well. I do like Alvin, think he talks lots of touchy feely sense. Whereas Martin talks lots of factual and sensible sense. (And Martin mentioned his new GF in his blog!!! And no that is not GF as in George Foreman grill...it's the other GF he means...).
Happy birthday Lillibet!! It's your first birthday as a Mommy!! Hope your little one gave you lots of hugs and birthday kisses (as well as birthday presents).
Right, back to the books, but will have a cuppa first.
Bye!0 -

Happy birthday Lillibet!
I'm at work so better type discreetly! Have been so busy lately so not posted. I've been studying and researching a lot for my possible new career, work ft as normal and it's the busiest time of year for my p/t slimming business.
Sorry to hear that people's feelings were hurt yesterday, this is usually a kind and understanding board. I do think it's easy for things to be misconstrued when you're just writing them rather than speaking to someone so you miss out on tone of voice etc that let's you know what people really mean. I think it's important to think before you type if you're making comments about what someone else has posted because of this, and making use of smilies can help to mimic the facial expressions and tone of voice you'd have if you were speaking. I'm sure no-one on here would intentionally want to hurt someone else's feelings.
I love reading everyones posts on here as i don't have much time to have a real social life so I feel on here I'm in contact with like-minded people in some way. I haven't done anything OS during the week, but tonight I will put on a load of washing and hang it on the airer, and should get more done tomorrow.
Please don't anyone stop posting, and no-one should be afraid to show the not so nice sides of their lives as well as what OS things they do. On a board like this where people are so friendly and there's a real sense of community it seems natural that people will extend their posts to cover other areas of their lives. TBH I quite like reading other things apart from OS that happen to you as if it appeared from everyone's posts that you all had great, perfect lives I'd prob get a bit depressed cos although on the whole I love my love my life as I've tried very hard to make it include lots of things I love doing, there's certainly days that are rubbish and when I like to hear others are the same!
Naturally we will sometimes disagree, it would be boring if we were all the same, and when someone posts different points of view eg dishwashers/ handwashing dishes I find it really useful to get different perspectives to help me make balanced decisions for myself- but posting with respect and thought in such posts is important.
Right, back to work for a boring non-OS afternoon, when I get home I have to make some calls for my p/t business and I'm going out to a Ceilidgh dance with buffet dinner provided, should be good!
Have a great day.
