  • :hello: Morning to all from the house of Foreverskint.:D

Well, I don't know what happened here yesterday, but I too think that the best thing is to forget all about it, remember we're grown-ups, and get back to what we all do best;) . And please don't take it the wrong way, it's jsut for some people like me, who have problems with agrophobia, this forum is a lifeline, and when it gets a bit nasty, it's just as scary as going out the front door.

Well, I never did get too much done yesterday, so I am now having a day of it today. Youngest DD has just slammed her fingers in a door and is feeling a tad sorry for herself, so I am having to sit with her for a while,( with a cuppa of course and oldstyle).

I have a beef stew on for dinner tonight, ( in my nice big HUGE new slow cooker), and have just bagged up 6 portions of bolognese sauce which I made yesterday in it,for the freezer. I can recommend the St. Delia Ragu recipe, very delicious and economical too.

I just have to do a tidy, and whip round with the duster and hoover, and that should do it. I do get fed up with tidying up for the weekend only to have it wrecked by everyone being at home:eek: . So instead of doing too much on a Friday, I'm foing to save it for Monday instead.

Well, off to do a bit, have a good day, and to those in need ((((((((((BIG HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

    love
    Elaine

Friday 13th is usually a lucky day for me :0)

Been to gym this morning before work, have a free lunch today (a catering company bringing in a trial freebie lunch, yaay!!), and no plans for tonight or the weekend to be honest!! Just more gym, perhaps a bit of cooking, thats about all!!

Trying to have a productive day at work today and get all the little pieces that Ive been putting off done.

Not very exciting I'm afraid!! xx
  • Good Morning Everyone!

Hope all the unwell children recover quickly-there is a lot of it about, including here last week. Definitely also hard on the ones doing the looking after.

Early (for me) start today as had to drop DS off by 8am to school for a Football Tournament. He is very sporty and burying me in filthy kit at the moment. Got to hang out the very muddy rugby stuff that I washed last night yet. DW been on and emptied.

Decided to drop into my local Co-op to get some bogoffs that are usually snapped up by other early birds.

Otherwise DH at hospital today, have a beef stew to put in the SC, freezer to sort and update list on PC, some menu planning, washing and vacuuming. Walls being attacked by damp proofers next week so no point in dusting (this weeks excuse!). Hoping to catch up with a friend later for a chat.

Also have a poorly sheep to catch and give antibiotic injection and eye ointment. Don't fancy my chances at all! Have to wait for OH to get back although he won't feel very up to it.

Quite pleased with my progress on the grocery challenge so far but will have to slash it hugely due to cost of vet coming out to sheep!

Despite the date I hope you all have a day in which you get to do at least one nice thing!

By the way we are not OS enough to actually eat our sheep, they keep the grass down and provide manure.
  • Morning everyone. This is my first post on this thread so please be kind! I have been reading for months though and hope everyone gets back to posting on here as normal as I love to hear all your news.

All my family are off to school or work - myself I am at work tonight and all day tomorrow so if you get served by a happy soul in Morrisons it may be me!
I haven't been at work since monday night though - I usually get some extra hours in the week while the kids are at school but they didn't need me this week. Means my next pay packet will be a bit short but we have stocktake coming up the last two sundays in January so that will make up for it.

WM on at the moment and hoovering done. Need to dust, clean glass doors in front room and crack on with the ironing. Bye everyone and have a good day!

    goodness!!!!

like many others, i missed what went on yesterday...but im sure i echo everyones thoughts when i say....whatever happened...please come back Queenie, PP and anyone else that is not posting today...

i have always thought that this board has what many others lack, a sense of community, when the chips are down and you have had a bad time, its here you come to take a load off, when something amazing happens, its here you come to share.

the trouble with type is that there is no intonation, things can be and are often misread or misinterpreted, thats the downside to virtual conversation, however, there are so many positive sides to our "OS board", there are too many to name but guys you know theres no where else quite like this on the net....to many its a home from home.

i love it here and i dont want the feelings that are usually felt here to change.

come on guys lets get back to normal,......you know you want to ;) xxxxxx

DH wants help today so will not get much done on housework front and tea will be something from the freeezer with fresh veg and potatoes. Any dessert will have to be an instant milk dessert or microwave sponge cake.

akronite_babe enjoy that new bed! DH and I treated ourselves to a one in the sales and its fantastic. My back hasnt hurt since :D

Got some chickpeas in the SC, need to do the carrots and a few other bits as am experimenting with a spicy carrot and chickpea soup. Hoping to have it for tea tonight. BM and WM both on.

MIL popped in so its been 2 hours since I started writing this! Didnt go too badly, talked more than we did last week so things slowly returning to normal.

Am preparing the house for the weekend. Try to get it all tidied/washing done etc as I am spending all day tomorrow at Lakeside with dd2. Got some vouchers for my birthday and am planning to spend them in the sales. Got DH to grab some of the Time Delay vouchers from Boots the other day so am going in armed with them also :p

  • Hello Everyone :hello:

Decided Im not going to let yesterday comments affect me and WILL keep upbeat and positive. I love the OS daily thread and think it benefits us all. Sometimes life isnt nice but by posting about some of our woes, it helps us all...so lets just get on with it and get back to normal :D

Not a good night for me and was up very early...again

WM has been on and clothes put on airer-no TD in over 2 weeks :D DW will be put on later when full. Cleaner is here today so no other cleaning needing doing and clean bedding will be put on etc. She is using mainly OS cleaning products (vinegar etc) so am best please.

DD is driving me mad and her bedroom is a tip, so have asked cleaner to leave her room-so shes going to have a shock when she comes in ;) and has to do it all herself-she will learn though...i know it sounds harsh, but we dont ask much else of her

OH & I made a Quiche yesterday and was the 1st proper one we've ever made from scratch. It turned out lovely and cost about £1 in total. We used up left over green pepper, mushrooms, onion, ham and bacon, 5 eggs  and some cheese on top. I have a picture, but dont know how to load it to this thread...Im not too good with computers. Any ideas????

OH has gone to have his back seen too and should be back later...hopefully it will be OK.

    Breakie:toast and juice
    Lunch:HM Quiche & Spud :D
    Dinner:Egg & HM Chips

Really need to keep my fluids up ATM, so drinking very OS water..LOL. I normally put squash in it, but have found it very refreshing-just ice cold.

I hate it when DD is sick, infact I hate it when Im sick..it makes me....well...so sick :rotfl: OH had to clear up the old puke when DD was bad-Im abit of a wimp in these situations. Hope your kids are all better soon.

Anyways, best go but will be on later. Chin up guys.

MATH-Hope your OK Hun-know it was a terrible day yesterday, but we're all here for you :grouphug:

Queenie-Hope your OK hun. Drop us a line and let us know((((((HUGS))))))

    Love to All

    Morning all! :hello:

Ive not long woken up to be honest (even though the cat tried her damndest to get me up), had a bit of a late one over at some freinds' house which was really nice, I got a birthday present for the other day - a cookbook so im really pleased, its a reasonably basic one, which is good, because I like simplicity and to make things fast (starving when home from work) but get stuck for ideas quite a bit! Its a godsend!

One thing I would like to say re: yesterdays daily thread, is that for me personally, I like to post on here everyday because its become a bit of a ritual and makes me feel a bit normal (most of my freinds moved away so I dont really have much contact with the outside world except at work and like to talk to people who have a similar outlook on o/s ways of life), to get advice on things I dont know about and feel better about not having much money to do things like buy clothes and have holidays, because I want to become debt free, and a better and healthier person in general.

It is never my intention to hurt anybody's feelings or offend in any way, simply because I respect the people on this board immensley and I too have my own problems (ive been having panic attacks every night in bed for the last three months so im constantly tired and 'on edge', have suffered with serious depression in the past and a variety of other things) and understand how offensive it is of others for e.g, to say, 'just snap out of it' etc. If I do offend, then I feel it only right for someone to turn around and say so, so that I am aware of how something appeared in word and can amend and apologise as appropriate.

Yesterday did leave me feeling a little uncomfortable if im honest, however, im drawing a line under it and starting afresh today. So:

Yesterday I bought a bread maker!!! It is a great little Morphy Richards thing and I took it for a trial spin yesterday and my first loaf actually turned out pretty damn good if I do say so myself! I made the basic white out of the recipe handbook and it was quite delish! It didnt rise as much as I thought it would though, so will be amending the recipe slightly, and may have another bash today at a wholemeal loaf ( I joined the allinson/hovis or something bread club last year and they sent me a couple of vouchers for free yeast and flour) as I have the bag already to go in the cupboard. I notice that my yeast sachets go further though - when Im hand making pizza dough i just chuck a whole sachet in, but my recipe yesterday only needed half - is that normal? I think I need to find some of the old bread threads!

I also bought my worral-thompson saucepans yesterday which are really heavy and posh, and a butchers block, a cleaver from habitat (v sharp & on sale at £5.95) and a braun stick blender (argos - reduced to £9.25) - then went shopping and stocked up the freezer as I walked past a farmfoods that id never been in before, and bought 3 full bags for £18! :D I got two medium frozen chickens for £3.50, and a load of other stuff. I was suprised at how cheap the frozen stuff was, and bought some fish etc so that I dont have to home make every night (Im a bit lazy with food on study nights!) :o In all - thank you work for the very kind vouchers which allowed me to get rid of what remained of studentville kitchen and start afresh. :T

Anyway, today im going to clean the flat again, get registered with a local doctor and dentist (and make appointment at dentist!), do another loaf of bread, then take myself out for a long walk because I think I need the fresh air. I intend to make the most of what remains of my holiday so I can go back to work on monday kind of refreshed and feeling like ive actually had a break.

I'll post again later with loaf no 2 results! Have a lovely day all!
