So much has rung true on this thread.

I feel lonely and left out, not at night necessarily when I'm on my own but when I see other mums and kids and couples with their children. I've always had to slave as my ex doesn't believe in supporting his daughter so I never got to mix with other mums and make friends so we could take the children out together.

It's a horrible time of year too, everyone feeling festive and children waking up with their presents with both their parents watching them..... family lunch etc and I feel like an outsider.

hugs to anyone who needs them, each year can only get better x

Hi Magpie, just wanted to send you a huge (((((((HUG)))))))
I am not a single parent, but one of my very close friends is, and she has recently given birth to a second child and his father is not interested at all. Her ex has recently broken in, while she was at the hospital with his very premature baby!!

She is struggling with a 4 yr old boy and a baby who is in the special care baby unit as he was born at 30wks!! The little one is doing very well considering, and the 4 yr old is coping very well, but mum is suffering.

I am trying to help, but can only do so much, i feel inadequate as i am married and happy, and we are ttc, but i want her just to know that i am here for her. I have cooked for her, stuff she can freeze and microwave, so that cooking doesn't need to be done, yet they can eat healthily. I have gone with her to the hospital but always think it is not enough.

All single mums seem to be super-mums to me, i have no idea how you all do it, and take my hat off to you all. Stuff those who don't appreciate you, your kids always will, and think you are the best mum in the world.
