Nice job Wullie, ppl don't realise that most posties sort this kind of thing out everyday instead of just posting through the doors that are marked on the address. But don't you sometimes think people complain for the sake of complaining. A lady called me up yesterday, telling me she hadn't received any mail for a week(2nd complaint), told her we'd investigate and get back to her. Spoke to manager who actually personally delivered her mail on Saturday to see if her complaint was valid, ofc she denied getting any mail on saturday

had one complain today after i knocked the door for an SD item
he barked at me i should use the bell.
the bell in question was a piece of elctrical wire hanging out of the wall

maybe you were expected to hold two pieces of wire together, rather like hot wiring a car? :rotfl:

I have just had to make a serious complaint today.

They had a temp postie on, and he delivered a Special Delivery item whilst I was out (I wasn't expecting it, hence why I wasn't in to accept it)....anyway, he couldn't get an answer from my door, so he signed for it himself and left it in "A safe place"...that safe place was my wheelie bin which was out in the street awaiting collection, in fact if I had been 5 minutes later it would have been taken away by the bin men

Now, fair enough he was a temp, but that is no excuse for that kind of stupidity and it is things like this that get RM such a bad rep.

That is really really bad but im wondering how much "training" that temp was given.

I get that occasionally, and i think some people can be incredibly rude i ring the bell then after a short spell i knock then i write out a docket and put it through the letterbox at which point someone opens the door saying why didnt i use the bell/knock:rolleyes:.......and im sure they dont believe me.
Ive come to the conclusion now that lots of people just arent happy with Royal Mail and because im the one putting letters through their door i get it in the neck.

jackiegibbo, valid complaints are always welcome, i only registered here when ppl started slating posties (the decent ones) . What happened to u shouldn't have happened and i'm sure the postie in question will get a good talking to, btw, how do u know this postie was a temp? or are u assuming that because it wasn't ure regular postie? I know our office didn't take on any temps this year, and just gave regular posties a lot of overtime, might even be one of those covering ure postie who's off sick or working night shift? Regardless, still shouldn't have happened imo.

to give you an idea how much training some get
part timer arrives the other day in the office, new start without uniform
he's from the portobello DO which is on the far east of edinburgh
my DO is on the far west
he's plonked on a duty which isnt even fully prepped for him and dumped out on the street
from what i heard he had never actually been on a walk before(you should go out with a full timer to learn at least a few days) and didnt know this side of the city at all!

They confirmed that he was a temp when I phoned the sorting office to complain, unless they were just making it up to cover the !!! of their normal postie. I know for a fact that my normal postman is off ill, and he wouldn't do something so monumentally stupid anyway.
