Hi guys, just a quick question...
Is there some sort of guide or website that tells you what prams/pushchairs will fit in the boot of each type of car? I thought there was but can't find it on the net and am now thinking maybe I dreamt it. (Wouldn't be the first time I insisted something exists and turns out I imagined it lol)
Our problem is that DH's parents want to buy the pram or whatever for us, but as they live a few hours drive away we won't be going shopping with them, they want to bring it down when they come to see baby (not due til June) for the first time. So as we won't be able to try it out to see if it fits until it's too late, I wondered if there was a quick way to find what would fit in in my Ford Ka and then I can tell them the options and they can choose what they want to buy from there.
While I'm thinking about it, is there something similar for car seats? Not yet started looking into this so I don't know if most seats fit all cars or if you have to check it fits your type so some sort of guide would be handy.
I have a lot of work ahead to find out what fits in the car if not!0 -
Congratulations Poppyjo and Hello Fraser!
I was getting paranoid about my age (34) too, til September and Triggles posted.
Edit Honeypop as far as I know its just a case of going to a shop and trying them out, but if there was a guide it would be fab wouldn't it?MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -
Hi, I have popped in from TTC thread and saw Honeypop's post. I have done research into pushcahirs to fit in the smallest boot ever (Peugeot 107) and the outcome was a Bebeconfort Loola or Loola Up, the seat unit comes off completely for folding and both bits fit in my 107 boot (tried it at a mothercare!) so that is the one I'll be asking for when I need one. The Petite star zia should also fit and says is ok from newborn but the Loola can have the seat facing you or away from you which the zia can't, also you can fix a maxi cosi onto the Loola now with adaptors and there is a cot option that will also fix onto the chassis (Windoo). I asked this on some forums and other people said they could fit a Quinny buzz in a 107 so that might be another one to try?
I measured my boot and looked up the dimensions of the folded pushchairs- but some weren't that accurate-but take your car to a large Mothercare and they will let you see which ones fit then you'll know which one to ask for.
Hope this helps.0 -
It's probably worth you finding something, trying it out, then telling them exactly what you want? I know argos catalogue tells you what size they fold down to, but you would still want to go play with them - see how easy they are to fold down etc.

There is no way I would let someone else choose my pram its a personal choice.
If your worried about offending them with cost then you need t ask them for a budget or say "I feel guilty that x pram is £300,£500 so I want to pay something towards" and see what they say.
Britax and Maxi cosi are widely regarded as the best car seats and both have a guide on their web sites which I'll pop on the end of this post.
But try calling your local council and asking if they have a carseat service in the road safety dept, ours does (wigan) its great they will show you which ones fit and let you try them out and make sure you know how to tell that they are in properly :T
