Sami - I would say yes. I am more patient and relaxed. I think DH & I kind of go with the idea that we've raised 2 to adulthood and not screwed them up, so we should be okay this time around.:rotfl:

No seriously, we're more comfortable making child-raising decisions now than we both were years ago. I think when I was in my 20's I did a lot of second-guessing my decisions, whereas now I'm more inclined to go with my instincts and not stress over it. I think we're both enjoying it more this time around.

Hi guys, just my update on my first full day of knowing i'm a pregnant lady!
I called the doctors this morning, they were totally disinterested. Told me that the doctor wouldn't see me till i was 8-10 weeks because there was no point as so many people miscarry. And that i had to contact the midwife myself and that they won't see me before 10 weeks...again...."because there's no point, they don't want to waste their time having an hours appointment if you're just going to miscarry"

    Insensitive cow!

Then i called the lady who books the appointments for the midwife and she scheduled my booking in appointment for the 28th Jan (when i'll be 10 weeks)...
will i get told at this appointment when my scan will be?
Well she was a cheery soul! nice thing to tell you!
your MW will possibly book your scan while your there or you will get the app separately in the post it differs according to where you are/ how your surgery does it

Aw SB - you're gonna go into labour and have your baby - that gives you the right to the crown for awhile!

HypnoNu - I can't believe she said that to you. Surely there is a more tactful way of putting it? Good grief!

  • Congratulations Poppy!

Hypno, I can't believe she said that to you!!! I got my scan appointment directly from the hospital, but I don't think I got it until my midwife had filled out a particular form and sent it off after I had my first appointment at about 7-8 weeks. You will soon see from keeping up on here that every NHS area works by it's own rules, so they could do something else where you are. (Where are you?!) Oh - seeing as your appointment won't be a while, there is a good week by week pregnancy guide thing here which you might find useful. There are loads of other things online too, but I'd be wary of which websites you look at, as a lot of it is very USA-centric, and there are a lot of scare stories out there. No point terrifying yourself!

Why is it that everyone waits until I have a nap before they phone me? I had 3 calls after I went to bed, so I've given up and will try again this afternoon. One of them was from health visitor wanting to come see me to discuss what services they provide and what will happen when baby is here - she's coming on Tuesday morning, but I'm not sure what time, as I'd been asleep 2 minutes before! And one was DH because he had a withheld number call him, and he panicked that I might have been rushed to hospital or something, bless him!

I wonder if i'll end up doing it all again:think:
Hopefully all will go well with the fostering and I'll be doing it for years without the m/s and labour bits :D

  • Congrats to poppyjoe and welcome to the world little Fraser! :j

I wouldn't have a nanny personally as I am looking forward to being a mummy too much! Dh and I have talked about getting a cleaner before. Most of the people in my street have them and my neighbour once "suggested" I use the services of the local gardener  . The garden was looking a little shabby round the edges at the time, but by no means was it that bad! I am lucky that hubby has a good job and we have been able to afford for me to not work for 3 years. But if I wasn't pregnant and had to go back to work, we would deffo get a cleaner!
