Molly, glad scan result was good! do you take glucosamine and chondritin (sp?) for your joints?

No, not at the mo, I have tried pretty much everything tbh - i used to take so much medication and supplements - around 36 tablets a day on a bad day:eek: before ttc. I was previously taking Methotrexate (description found here) which is classed as a "Pregnancy Category X" drug, so I am advised by my rheumatologist what to take and when. Its taken 2 years since I first went to my GP about ttc, the first year I had to slowly stop taking all meds, then it took a further year to actually get pregnant! (So much for getting pregnant straight away - hubby was convinced it would take 1 month - yeah right! )Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Molly, Sami, Caz just remember we are all fantastic multi-taskers and if FC can bend time to suit then maybe we should try that too, lol...
If all else fails Im pulling the preggers card!

I can't comment on the getting preg as my first was a whoopsie and 2nd conceived 10 days after my IUS was removed
I hope you don't get spd too bad either, sound like you've been through enough!
My bff's sister has CF and some form of arthritis that leaves her unable to move for weeks at a time and seeing her stack of tablets is soo scary!0 -

Had my midwife booking in appointment this morning. I found out they do a "dating scan" at 12 wks here, but not the nuchal translucency measurements. If I want that, we have to pay £180 to have it done! They do 2 blood tests (at 12 and 16 wks) to check for Downs syndrome. I will definitely have the blood tests, then we'll go from there depending on the results. It was kinda of odd - the midwife was talking about amnio if the results showed high risk, but I told her we had already ydiscussed it and weren't going to have an amnio regardless, as it wouldn't change whether or not we wanted the baby. So she then asked why I wanted the blood tests then.
She seemed a little puzzled when I explained that we wanted to know where we sat for risk - so if it was high risk, we could be more prepared, just in case. We thought it made sense - but I could tell she thought we were a bit silly about that. Doesn't anyone else feel that way - that they just like to know the possibilities so they can prepare?

Seems reasonable to me Triggles! I had the nuchal fold measurements and blood tests done at my 12 week scan (seems to be considered as standard by my doctor - but then I find the Belgian system a little confusing, but very effective). Fortunately my doctor phoned to say that the results have all come back fine but if the risk of Down's had been greater that's how I would have left it...so we could prepare ourselves and find out a bit more about it all, but without having to go through an amnio.:jBaby boy, Hugh, born on the 8th June 2009, weighing 2.5kg:j0

Trig, we didn't have the blood tests as we knew we would never have an amnio so there would be no point in all the stress of the results. I think most people who do have the bloods then go on to have an amnio if they are high risk to 'know' and then decide whether to carry on with the pregnancy. But I can understand your point!

Hi Triggles,
Heres what happened to me, MW came around and said you will get a scan at 12 weeks and blood tests then option for more blood tests at 16 weeks for downs syndrome odds.
Heres what I thought, hmm gonna keep it either way but would be good to have a heads up.
Heres what happened next, I had results 1:580, panicked because I had seen other results on here much higher, got upset, read loads THEN learnt, the test is sometimes only 60% accurate and ANYTHING over 1:250 is classed as low risk, this didnt feel it to me and now Im none the wiser and wish I hadnt done the test.
Of course its all our own choice but my gut instinct was to have it but in reality unless it says higher risk than 1:250 you wont learn anything but probably will worry like me if its close to that. I think this test is better for those mums who wouldnt want to continue their pregnancy. Merely my thoughts given my recent upset.:j
