    here it is
The Ugly. Sadly, almost everyone will know someone who'll lose their job, if it's not happened already. This has a knock-on workplace effect; the 'last in first out' system means many will need to trade in job mobility for job stability,

This "system" is illegal and no longer exists as it is age discrimination :D

edit - well I prob should have said "should no longer exist" as I'm sure theres some unscrupulous bosses out there

Good afternoon everyone. I was laughing at the "don't like pink" comments. My DD hates pink, so when she was younger, she would refuse to wear any pink dresses or shirts. She still avoids pink whenever she can.

Ok, quick question. I'm 11w1d right now. I'm having a feeling almost like a pulled muscle/muscle spasmy feeling in the lower abdomen. Heard heartbeat on doppler this morning, baby is fine - this isn't like AF cramps or anything remotely like that. I'm not sure if this is simply muscles being stretched as I've popped recently and am now showing a little, or if it's my stupid diverticular disease acting up again. If it is, I need to call in and get a script for antibiotics. But I don't want to take them if I absolutely don't need them. Is it reasonable to wait until Thurs or Fri and see how it goes? Does anyone remember getting this feeling at about 11-12 wks? Or am I pushing my luck by waiting? I don't think it's a bladder infection, as I've had tons of them and it just doesn't feel like one. *sigh* Nothing like paranoia to make your day.

  • Sami - last in, first out isn't illegal???

It's standard policy and IMHO is correct.

It's nothing to do with age???

    I'm confuzzled!!

    hi

did or has anyone else suffered with excessive sweating in early stages?

i'm only 5 weeks tomorrow but last few days really bad sweating and not a problem I have ever had before - have just reached for something off a high shelf and noticed really damp patches on my blouse - trying to keep my arms down (you know like the advert!) but have a meeting in a bit!!!

Anyone else experienced this or is is something un related to pregnancy?

I'm relating just about everything to it at the moment - driving OH up the wall, he's got another 8 months of this :rotfl:

Triggles, is it constant or just when you're moving? I find that sometimes I get a stretched muscle / sharp pain on the bottom or up the sides of my bump when I'm moving, I put it down to the growing bump and muscles struggling to support the sudden change...

MFD, the last in first out policy generally means that older people will be safe as they have been in their job longer therefore, the youngest are most likely to be let go... So it's age discriminatory...

Glamazon, I've found this too... Aswell as the other fluid excretions... I feel pretty rotten if I don't have a shower... Especially if I've been energetic with the housework and made myself even sweatier...

  • Triggles - I got a similar "pulling feeling" until recently (I am now 17+3), especially if I sneezed, laughed hard or stood up too quick, it felt like a pulled muscle across the front of my lower abdomen. I think this is normal - if you have history of other medical problems though, maybe get it checked by your GP if your concerned.

With regards 'Last one in, first one out' I'm pretty sure you can't do that.

I was involved in deciding who got made redunant where I worked a few years ago and we were told it had to be based on skill mixes - so I had to do a skill mix review on every member of staff and the person who was the least skilled over the whole admin/reception team had to be made redunant. It did end up being the last person we took on because she was the least skilled and only worked on a specific project so wasn't verstaile like everyone else.

    Hope that makes sense.
