oooookay! now that the vitamin / folic acid thing has come up... can you answer me this little question?
I have been taking sainsbury's own pregnancy vitamins from before we starting TTC. It says on the back that they are for pre pregnancy, thoughout pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.
But they also say that you should stop taking folic acid at around beginning of 2nd Trimester.
Conflicting info on the back huh?
Do Icarry on taking them or stop? Will anything bad happen to baby if I keep taking them (they contain folic acid)...
help -baby brain doesn't like it... too hard!!!0 -
I've just had a google, and folic acid is one of the vitamins where it doesn't matter too much if you take too much, although it can stop you absorbing vitamin b12 as well. I would imagine if you're taking/eating plenty of that then it wouldn't be a problem? B12 is in dairy products, eggs, and termites according to wikipedia. So there you go!
MW has just been. She couldn't do a sweep, as she couldn't reach - baby is lying with it's head tilted back rather than forwards, so cervix is still too far up for her fingers to stretch too. Will be trying again on Friday, Monday and Wednesday, and I'm now booked in for an induction for Thursday next week if nothing happens by then.Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Did any of you have to get your progesterone checked at the start of your pregnancy? and if so when did you get it done?0

Myaccount, I don't think they routinely test progesterone unless there's a reason to do so. I was never tested when I was having Aimee despite 6yrs of fertility problems...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Little pickle - in the states, they want all pregnant women to take folic acid and pregnancy vitamins throughout the entire pregnancy, so I can't imagine it's a problem. It's not like vitamin A that builds up to harmful levels for the baby, your body just gets rid of what it doesn't need or use.
Ok, this might be seriously TMI, but anyone else on here have problems with cystocele or uterine prolapse? I have had problems with this since DS was born, and I would just like reassurance that it isn't going to cause problems with the pregnancy. GP and midwife were very "oh no big deal" about it, but I swear (this is the TMI bit - you've been warned!!) I feel like everything is practically down to my knees, if you know what I mean! It's worse when constipated as well (so trying very hard to avoid that!). I've read that further along in the pregnancy it's not so much an issue, because the size of the baby keeps everything up off the pelvic floor. And what about vaginal delivery? I swear I told DH last night I was worried when I pushed the baby out, my bladder and half my innards would probably come with it!MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
I have to "stay upright" rather than sitting down as much as I can....
Looking online there are other things you can do, but none of them are SPD friendly (kneeling with your legs either side of a cushion, sitting straddled the wrong way round over a dining chair (you know, like the tough guys do in films) and things like that. I don't think I can open my legs that far at the mo though! Never mind - I will have to stand up and get on with the housework instead as much as I can manage. We will have the cleanest flat in the block by next Thursday at this rateIsabella Molly born 14th January 2009
