Sparkly - I think it's always worth havign it checked out to put your mind at ease... HOWEVER - I went to see my doc before I got pregnant to discuss if I could carry on horseriding when I got pregnant and if so how long etc (ok I didn't but only because my morning sickness was so extreem!) what he said was that for the first 3 months even a fall from a horse would be unlikely to dislodge a "healthy" pregnancy anyway - if I got injured badly enough that it was a danger to the baby the injury would be severe at any rate that it would not be their first concern... Basically the body places the pregnancy at the deepest point in your abdomen it can to protect it so it will probably be fine. Whether you have pulled any muscles however is a different matter altogether!

Lisa - congrats! I had a TLP coz I tested early (I just "knew" I was) but didn't quite beleive it until the next day when I did a digital one! x

SB your labour apart from being induced is quite similar to mine last time :D
I'm really glad you had a VBAC :T at the time you think it's too hard/too painful but then you see your bubba and suddenly it's all seen through rose tinted glass ;) Keep posting in the parent club so I don't get SB withdrawals! xx

Sparkly If they kicked you in the back you should be fine, there's lots of "stuff" in there to cushion the blow, My LO is 2 in 9days  he's always kneeing my bump when I carry him and jumping on me in bed  baby usually just rolls over or occasionally tries to kick back (that's my girl/boy!) I'm heard from somewhere that it would take something much more powerful like a horse kicking you in the stomach to do anything to bubba.

PS. Tine are you riding again? My friend has a rather tempermental horse called Barney and he "told" her she was preg both times as his personality completely changes when she's preg, he is much more chilled and gentle *awww*

Hello ladies! Hope everyone is well and the 2009 bumps are behaving themselves!

I am so enjoying being Mummy to my ‘children’. Jamie is an absolute dream and I can’t stop staring at him thinking last week he was still cooking in my tum! He is currently fast asleep in his Moses basket being looked after by Daddy. The plan goes that I come to bed around 10ish and the boys stay and play on the Xbox or watch some sci-fi! DH has been doing the feed around midnight and we then take it in turns to do the 3am! Then he wakes at 6am and that’s when I usually start my day. Poppy has really taken to him and walks over and kisses his forehead – my heart could melt!

Right, on to The Birth Story! :D

Arrived at the hospital induction ward at 9:30am and after being examined I was exactly zero cm dilated so had my first lot of prostaglandin at 10:30am and was told I would not be examined again for 6 hours. Told DH to go home and see to the dog and have a rest (Poppy was staying at Nanna’s).

DH came back around 4pm just in time for my next exam but still absolute zero so another I had another dose of the gel! I was told that if nothing had happened within the next 6 hours, scheduled for 10:30pm, I would be transferred to a labour room and my waters would be broken. I sent DH home again around 6pm as I was so tired and just wanted to sleep. My cough and cold was getting worse and I had hardly slept the night before due to all the excitement of meeting my baby!

Around 8pm I started to get crampy period type pains and asked for paracetamol which took the edge off and I was happy thinking, wow, I can easily cope with this lol. But the pain gradually got stronger and I felt two little ‘pop pops’ at around 10pm. I got up to go the loo and my waters broke but I thought I had wet myself at first! I ran to the bathroom with my PJ’s soaking, came back to my bed only to find I hadn’t finished and more water was to come! Whipped the sheet off my bed and whimpered for the MW lol. The pain was getting really bad at this point so I called DH and the MW hooked me up to the monitor to check my contractions.

I had a tiny bit of my bed curtain open and as soon as someone walked past, I yelled that I needed some pain relief! Apparently there was a huge emergency going on and my MW had been called away so this lovely auxiliary (not sure if they are still called that?) went away but rushed back to take me to my labour room while she struggled with all my luggage – poor thing!

She gave me gas and air and I could have hugged her! When my MW finally arrived I was put me on the monitor again but she had to leave to see to her post natal patient. I was in pain but she kept asking me was this my first baby. I think she thought I was making a huge deal about nothing! DH arrived and I couldn’t get my words out quick enough between contractions and sucking the gas but I did however manage to yell that he was my advocate and I needed him to get me help now!

MW came back and I was half clinging off the bed. She told me it would be better if I changed positions as I couldn’t possibly be comfortable – I could have seriously thumped her!!!

She eventually examined me, still with the impression I was a wimp, but it was then all systems go and her attitude soon changed as I was fully dilated and ready to push! I really don’t know who was more shocked!

I couldn’t believe it was happening so quickly! She asked DH if he would like to see the head (eek!) which he did – still can’t believe he did that lol. He then held my hand tight and I gave birth to our gorgeous ‘little’ 10lb 12.5oz boy and he cut the cord – still can’t believe he did that either!

I had a second degree tear and stitches but the whole experience was absolutely amazing and I felt a million feet tall knowing I had done it mostly by myself, with a little help from gas and air. It was a complete contrast to Poppy’s dramatic arrival and so different to what I expected.

    My notes say:

    Rupture of membranes 22:15
    Onset of labour 22:30
    Second stage 00:05
    Active second stage 00:10
    Birth of baby 00:22
    Delivery of placenta 00:30

    Duration I 1hr 35mins
    Duration II 0hr 17mins
    Duration III 0hr 08mins
    Total 2hrs 00mins
Duration of ruptured membranes 2hrs 07mins

Right, I think that’s just about it!! I’ve tried to be as honest as I can (i.e. it does hurt!) but the result is the beautiful baby you have been carefully baking for the past 9m and you really do parcel the pain to the back of your mind.

I’m so excited for all you Mummy’s to be as you have this amazing experience to come and my journey has now ended! But I am the happiest Mummy ever and consider myself blessed.

    xxx
Ive only just found out you had your baby! came on seeing who had given birth! Big congrats!! :D xx

I was up till I fell pregnant... my main concern was that I seemed to be combining flying lessons with my riding lessons and managed to get a back injury before falling pregnant - hence getting medical advice before carrying on :) I'm sorry to say the horse didn't seem to show the slightest sympathy for me when pregnant ( i would have had one or two lessons before I knew myself :) ) but then it wasn't my horse but a riding school horse - lovely though she is! :)
