I just assumed you weren't supposed to have a hot bath in case it poached the baby inside you? Well... You know what I mean... Never really thought much of it as it wasn't particularly relevant to me...

ooh I just thought this time next year I'll be bathing with 2 LO's not just Chris :D I love sharing a bath with my bubba so should be twice as nice when this one is in too - I just hope Chris has got over his love of splashing by then
Chris has also managed to teach himself to swim  he's never been in or near a pool as I hate the places but when I'm emptying the bath (he refuses to get out before ALL he water has gone) he lies on his front and does breast stroke and says "swim swim swimming" :T

I think the hot bath thing might be a knock on from the old wives tale about a bottle of gin and a hot bath

When did everyone stop talking Folic Acid?

I've no idea how many I have left - they're in a sweetner dispenser type thing - but at a guess I would say another month's worth. I have to take thyroxine every day anyway so it's no hardship taking another tab at the same time. Shall I just keep going until I run out? If I was taking PregnaCare it would still be 400-thingies every day anyway, I suppose..

You only really need to take them for the first 12 weeks, after that the bits that they are essential for are already developed so they're not really needed... PregnaCare is different because it has other vits and minerals in... I think I stopped about 10 or 11 weeks because they made me feel even more sick... And I kept forgetting... But I eat cereal and bread and vegetables so pretty sure I'm not defficient anyway...

I was really bad with my folic acid this time (well I say this time, I only found out at 9wks last time so no good there!) I started taking my FA before the wedding knowing I would be having IUS removed just after wedding to start ttc-ing but then with the prob I had getting it removed I difted a bit and was taking about 4 tabs a week, then when my MS kicked in I could take them first or last thing and that was the only times I remembered so hardly took any after about 8 wks :naughty: I think my diet before was pretty good and no probs with bones on 12wk scan so I think I'm ok anyway :D

ETA: Elle I seem so remember your old meds (if I'm linking the right meds with the right MSE'er) did something to the way your body absorbed FA so maybe a good idea to keep taking it if I've got the right things as mentioned

Ahh thats as clear as mud!

  • Elle - I got put back on folic acid when I had my 24 week bloods - not sure why

If you are taking pregnacare then that should be enough I think (my pack says it provides 200% of the recommended daily allowance).

I have been taking Pregnacare for 6 weeks now, I'm 14+2. Was worried as I work in a school and at one point 9 kids in the class were of ill. I'm one of the only members of staff to have avoided this virus thingy going around. Touch wood it will stay that way but I'm sure the vitamins have helped. Got my iron levels yesterday and they were 12.6. Best I've ever had in pregnancy. Sanatogen Pronatal is on offer in Tescos at £2.60.
Too many children, too little time!!!

MFD: its 200% of a non preg ladies GDA but 100% of a preg ladies IYSWIM
400ug is the amount you should take daily while ttc and 1st 12wks preg and that is how much is in the standard pregnacare tabs :)
