    Hi Ladies! :)

Can I ask, have any of you had, or are now suffering with sciatica??

I've had it for a few weeks now, nothing too painful at first, more like a numb icey sensation from my lower back, my left buttock and down my thigh to my knee, but this past week, if I'm on my feet, yyeeoouch!! It feels like someone sticking hot knives in my left upper outer thigh/buttock.

I was shopping today with my daughter and in one shop (luckily it was empty!) had to sit on the floor with my bags while she had a mooch lol!

Is there anything that can be done for this (prescribed painkillers maybe?) ~ is it worth me making a GP appointment or am I just going to have to put up with it till baby is here in May?

I'm dreading going into work as I'm on my feet from 9am till 5pm, I don't sit down on my break or lunch break as the staff room is stuffy and stinks (no window) so it makes me feel sick.

Shellsuit, I had Sciatica for months before I had my DS.

I made a GP appointment and I was signed off work as I stood on my feet all day, I can't actually remember being given anything for it though.

You must rest, it can be very painful and is likely to get worse as the baby becomes heavier, see your GP and explain your work situation.

Glad your scans went well elle and icklebeans.

Little P. Why dont you have a feel of your stomach? When you get about 12 weeks your uterus starts to rise above your pubic bone and you can feel it. The bottom of my stomach is now much harder than it was before x

    Thanks Merlot! :)

Signed off work....eek! I only work part time as it is, I don't think we'd be able to cope with me getting 2 days worth of sick pay, I don't even know how much that would be, maybe £30 tops?

I work 16 hours @ £5.73 an hour, I wouldn't know how to calculate how much sick pay I'd get. :o Also, if I had this for the remainder of my pregnancy, I'd have to start my maternity leave 11 weeks before my due date wouldn't I?

Thing is, there are things to do in work where I could sit down, but I'm employed as a counter assistant (shop assistant in normal terms lol), so if I got a letter from my GP, would work have to give me the alternative work, ie working in the bakery sat down as opposed to serving and being on my feet?
