No, sorry. But thanks for the tip about ice-cube trays. I'd never thought of that before.

Send it to me and I'll drink it for you!! :snow_laug

What about pasta sauce? I've got some on the stove simmering now and I've added a splash of red wine to it.

Any wine (red or white) can be frozen into ice cubes trays to use in gravies, soups, casseroles.

Traditionalist's go by the: red with red meats; white with white meats/fish ... but, I'm not traditionalist when it comes to adding any 'leftovers' :D

Of course, at this time of year, you could use it to make Mulled Wine instead and offer it to (adult) carol singers or indulge yourself ;) (you can make it in a slow cooker too ) :D

Red wine can simply be added to any "gravy" style sauce that you like to put on your vegetarian meals: red wine in tomato based sauces can be nice ... it's especially nice with Braised Red Cabbage and Apple

Not being a vegetarian, my advice it limited. Red = kidney bean based meals/ pinto bean based meals? A rich sauce to top a nut roast???

Oooooh, I have used red wine when making a fruit jelly (home made from scratch using gelatine) and it was rather D-LISH (even if I do say so myself :D )

Thanks Queenie! I have always frozen any leftover wine to use in stews, gravy, italian sauces etc., and use a variety of containers (cottage cheese containers etc) but have now got to the point where everytime I open the top drawer of my upright freezer, I am showered with various shaped frozen red wine chunks!:xmassmile

Mulled wine in my Mothers old tower slow cooker is the way to go I feel! :snow_laug

What a lovely, seasonal way to use them up and make space for the new ones!

As you'll have gathered by now perhaps, we have an older thread on uses for red wine and so I have merged your question with this one. Since posts are listed in date order you'll need to read from the beginning again to catch up with us. :)

Definitely worth freezing wine in small amounts whether old plastic containers/Tupperware etc. It will tart up cheaper cuts of meat because it breaks down the connective tissue to make it tender!

So drink some, use some in cooking and freeze some! Enjoy!

  • Just as confused....

Never had the chance to think whether the wine is ok to drink after 3 days as its gone after 3 hours!!!!
