How long does wine keep when opened?

 You should not store red wine in the fridge!
Put its cork back very firmly and store in a dark place at room temperature. It won't keep forever, but it should for a few weeks. My grandad had vineyards back in Italy and made some wonderful red wine (Barbera). After opening a bottle, what was left was stored just as I have suggested.
Good luck.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
: Refrigerating wine doesn't ruin it. In fact, it slows down the spoilage. As to how long you can keep it under refrigeration, I'd say two to five days, depending on the wine. Wines in gallon jugs can last longer. However, I've noticed that red wines, especially the better wines, are never as good after they have been kept in the refrigerator, even when brought to room temperature, which you should do before drinking. If the remainder of a newly opened bottle of wine will be consumed entirely the following day, I'd recommend keeping it at room temperature, preferably in the coolest area. Since air is the enemy of wine, one tip for storage of leftover wine is to pour the contents of a full bottle (750ml) into an empty half bottle (375ml). This reduces the amount of air that comes in contact with the wine in the bottle.
I have to admit I never have a problem with what to do with left over wine. I never seem to have any.

On one of the shopping channels (they were selling wine for christmas) bloke said to transfer it to a coke bottle, or similar, fill it to the brim put the cap on as tightly as poss. and store in the fridge. This is for any type of wine. He said that it was the air in the bottle that spoils the wine.
I personally can not be bother, especially if it is your second bottle, hand might slip and totally spoil the wine!!!
Suppose I could get a straw out  , but that is my lost passt as a student coming out of the cupboard

We generally don't have a problem with left-over wine, because there's none left-over
Seriously, I have kept it with a stopper on for about a week in a cool cupboard, or failing that you could freeze it in ice-cube trays for use in cooking.

You can keep little containers such as yoghurt/cottage cheese for freezing wine. Be careful to leave a gap at the top. You can then chuck container away after use.

Dont put red wine in the bloody fridge!!!!!!
After its been opened drink it within 2 - 3 days after, i have left it 2 wks and its been fine.... (only once)
Usually it gets drank the same night its opened..If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.0 -

ps. happy new year
Happy new year. Make it a new year resolution to practice drinking more:beer:
If I should have some red left in a bottle I stopper it and it's ok for 2 or 3 days. White wine though I find only lasts 1 day.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
