    Agree with Maman - most supermarket wine will only keep a couple of years. It's definitely a case sniff & taste!

    If it's basic plonk, chances are it will be vile by now, but some might be ok, if not great.
    Instead of drinking some and leaving an open bottle in the fridge as a potential temptation, why not have a glass or two one night, then freeze the rest to use in recipes? It should be safe enough for OH to eat such recipes if you make sure the alcohol has boiled off.
