    Red or white?
I'd keep white in the fridge, for a couple of days, and red a bit longer in a dark cupboard. We have a vacuum pump cork thing for wine which should make it last longer. To be honest it isn't a problem we have often.

Red or white? I find red gets better if it has been opened a couple of days, but after about a week it tastes a bit like vinegar!!!! White wine will last a few days if kept in the fridge!!! If i had some left(doesnt happen often in this house  ) sometimes i freeze it in an ice cube tray, and use it in cooking later!

Generally 3 or 4 days and then it tastes a bit like sherry.

You can free it though and save it for cooking. Some people suggest putting it in an ice tray to freeze cubes for cooking (edit - like the catwoman has just said).

I usually keep white, corked for 48 hrs in fridge

red wine I will keep for up to 5 days

if I think I won't drink it within this time I freeze it in ice-cube trays to be used in cooking

Delia suggests putting leftover wine in ice cube trays in the freezer to use in cooking. One day I'll try this......just as soon as I can adjust to the concept of left over wine:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Oh good thought I was the only person with this problem :) Left over wine? Pink elephants?

Actually saying that then on saturday we were helping out for free at a Fair Trade fashion show serving wine at the bar and there were some open bottles at the end of the evening (4 white to be precise) now I don't have room for 4 bottles of open wine in the fridge but the one I was drinking last night was juuuuuuust fine thanks :) So that's 3 days after opening and not being stored in the fridge :) (Btw the it's the last of the bottles... shame I only have half a box left of red from saturday night too but boxed wine keeps for about 6-8 weeks... alledgedly... never taken that long to drink it so not sure ;))

Left over wine is a stranger in our house too - also boxed wine 6 - 8 weeks - mine never last 68 hrs :o :rotfl: :o

however - in the odd occassion i do have wine opened I would keep it a couple of day in the fridge - I do find that the bottles with the screwcap are great but would freeze any if I knew I wouldnt be drinking it

  • I have always found the Vacu-Vin excellent at keeping wine in good condition for 3-4 days. I find red needs to breathe first for at least an hour after opening.

    Hey.

Sorry if this is in the completely wrong forum, which no doubt it is.

How long does red wine keep for after being opened and refrigerated?

I've had an open bottle, re-corked in my fridge for about two and a bit weeks now.

    Cheers :)
