I have a lead rope that gets clipped onto the bolt of one of mine as he can get out. Just got my vets bill through from his sore foot so know how you are feeling. Hope you have defrosted.

Poor Captain,
I'm sure he wasn't looking for trouble. He always seems to find it though... typical man!:hello: - Proud to be dealing with my debts!:j DFW nerd No. 1011!

Bummer! Many years ago when I had a horse she was a sod for getting out! She'd spend hours trying to undo lead rope clips from her sliding bolt - eventually she managed it and thought it would be nice with company so let another 4 horses out too!
In the end we put a bottom bolt on too (we had one of those flip over ones - hard to explain but if you kicked the door enough you COULD get it to flip upwards enough to get it open...). She was most miffed at the bottom door bolt though... couldn't reach it and no amount of kicking would get it to budge... was super annoying when she spent hours kicking the door and managed to make herself lame doing it - daft mare!
Hope he's better soon!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Aww poor Captain, hope he gets better soon, he certainly has a personality on him!
Enjoyed all the goss on the ex! I am not a romantic and don't do any of that romantic garbage! However i am a big believer in fate and believe things happen for a reason, so the fact you two keep being thrown back together may be for a reason, even for a purpose that is not what you would have previously thought!:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Thank you cassey, such kind words from a stranger, I am genuinely touched that folk are reading my sporadic ramblings.
Hmm, he hasn't send any instructions for the bit where the computer says No or rather don't have the application necessary to launch download. Looks like communication is over for the evening. He did try though
Sorry to hear about Captain.0 -
Not a good day moneywise I'm afraid. The Captain has ensured that I will have a fairly steep vets bill winging it's way to me.
He went out on the razzle last night and instead of his normal horse equivalent of a pint, bag of crisps and a snooze on the muck-heap; went the full horse equivalent of eight pints, a kebab and a punch up
He got out of his stable again!! and has either had an argument with another horse or banged his head while he was exploring the machinery barn (in complete darkness ) His eye, ear and mouth are all badly swollen and he's feeling very sorry for himself - so he should....he looks a bit like a donkey with his wonky ear
I was so worried about him, there was nothing feisty or opinionated about him today, I had to call the vet out. So the bill will include pain killers, anti-inflamatories and eye drops, plus the huge call out charge. I'm still frozen through, despite a hot bath, think I might have an early dinner to see if that helps.
Nightmare, sorry to hear that. My lovely dog ran up a £700 vet bill last week, from eating a piece of foam from goodness knows where (I can only assume he thought it was bread), he started choking at 3am, we rushed him to the vets and they had to x-ray him and remove the offending article, very stressful and very expensive, but we wouldn't be without them would we. x0 -
awwwwwww poor Captain. Sorry to hear about the big vet's bill as well£2 savers club 2025 #40

Thanks everyone, the Captain is fine, the swelling on his face has gone down a lot and he can now open his eye to give me the gimlet glare. Obviously, this is all my fault!! The vet said he would have a headache and he's certainly acting like he's got one! Very grumpy, not off his food though. Apparently, he had a go at seven breakfasts on his night out, it's a wonder he didn't go down with colic.
Found out how he was escaping yesterday. He has a new neighbour, a beautiful flaxen mare with a giraffe neck. She just stretched across and undid the bolt while I was standing there :rotfl:She's very keen on him, he's the sort of boy your mother warned you about, the bit of rough who completely ignores you... Which, of course, makes you all the keener, been there, got the tshirt
Yesterday was spent reinforcing the security on his stable, he now has the kick bolt recommended by Mrs Tine and a pinch bolt and guess what?? They're not cheap!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Definitely couldn't be without them, nice if they had a little common sense sometimes or a least paid part the vet bill :rotfl:
