she forwarded my e mail to oliver clifford who forwarded it to tom sheffield. It was a nice response so I was hopeful but in the end it was rubbish. I have just re-written to lm and will today write to all the local mps. I wish I had some clout but the best I can hope for is to become a nuisance so they get rid of me.

If I lived near enough the fscs I would stand there with a billboard and inform the press

now I am trying to find out who the fscs is accountable to

FSCS is independent from the FSA, although accountable to it and ultimately to the Treasury

I wrote to BBC Watchdog last week but had no reply. I'm very concerned if the delays we have been fobbed off with are due to lack of funds from HMG. If this news got out to the media there would be a massive lack of confidence among savers. While not trying to seem paranoid, could it be that the media have have been gagged on covering this? - it does seem so strange that it has all gone so quiet. Why no update from the FCSC web page?

I think they are working on paying out 6 weeks after they receive / open the forms, which for many means they opened the mail after getting back to work in the New Year. So will be 2nd or 3rd week in February before we get the money.

I can't agree with that, My FRB matured 17 Dec, form sent back 23 DEC, Received cheque 21 Jan. This included the Christmas/New year break, so 12 working days if you count from 2 Jan.
I have every sympathy with those who are having problems, but I just feel the FSCS are overwhelmed/understaffed. I don't think there is any logic to their workings.
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !

If i worked it out using fixed rates available in November when i COULD AND SHOULD have taken the cash via the net, i am considerably down on the deal. However after losing control of my cash in a FRB, i vowed never to have one again. Certainly not in this environment.
Yes, I remember that cursor hovering over the tick box for my FRB accounts and then logic and reason took over and I opted for payment at maturity. Maybe you should follow your gut instincts even in financial matters.
My instincts are just the same as shindigger. Never entrust your saving to less than 4 or 5 institutions and don't go for the higher interest if it means committing your money long term.
Icesave was my first and last foray into committed term bonds.

    Christmas has come early (late?)!
Two lovely cheques arrived in the post this morning. Too late to cash until Monday, but my money is nearly back with me.
Good luck to those that are still waiting, it can't be much longer before you are in the same position as me.

    FRBs 1 & 3 Dec. Form sent 23rd Dec.

Sent my form back before you, come end of next week they will have had it for over 6-weeks but no sign of anything.
