Oh, ok, big misunderstanding then.
You read "claimed online" as to say the option to get the money there and then, while I read that as "choosing the option to leave it until maturity on the online application".
After all, soulsaver saidInterest upto Oct 7 if claimed (anytime) before maturity
He/she is right that those are the 2 options.Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -
Hi all,
I posred the following to another thread today. In case you haven't seen it, here it is again:
Hi all,
I have just called FSCS for the first time to ask about fixed rate bonds paper applications. Somebody might have done that and posted something before, if this is the case, apologies. I just wanted to let everyone know ASAP.
The person I spoke to told me that they are going to start sending 18,000 paper forms HOPEFULLY by the end of this week. To clarify, I double checked if that meant they will not wait until the maturity of individual bonds to send out the forms, he said they will send the forms now and not after maturity.
Keep fingers crossed.

I hope so nicky. I have one fixed rate bond matured on 18th nov. In hindsight I should have cashed it0

Thanks for posting that Nicky - very useful
Looks like its just in time to get them with the Xmas cards."How could I have been so mistaken as to trust the experts" - John F Kennedy 19620 -
I wonder if the FSCS are closing for the whole Christmas break - and whether its unwise to return the forms (on the assumption we get them) before Christmas!! Any thoughts?0

Timing. And red-tape.
Stuff done now, has it's associated 'tape' with it now. The online process.
Bonds maturing will need 'tape' any time between 8th Oct '08 and (guessing here - were there 5 yr bonds? I'm assuming 3.) 7th Oct '11.
Anything generated online in '08 is going to need more than the click of a mouse in '11. And to simplify things I'm guessing they made it a blanket requirement.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

I returned my form last week (PoA job, so presumably outside the normal timescale) and got the document returned within a couple of days.0 -
I've just phone the FSCS. Firstly I was told that forms would be sent out AT the end of Dec, then by someone else that they will have been sent out BY the end of Dec! Also that once forms are returned, processing them will take between 2-6 weeks. Doesn't really help much does it?0

So it doesnt matter to YOU that the FSCS havent even sent all the forms out yet then?
Never mind sent anyone a cheque.
Shame for the rest of us, that believed the FSCS that they would post forms from the 4th December. As you affirmed late last year.:rotfl:
I received mine on Xmas eve, and it would appear i was lucky to get that. .
I seem to remember you berating me and others for questioning this at the time.
Seems we were right to be sceptical, seems it didnt matter to you anyway.
Nice!!0
