Office shoes and right to refund

I've just had a nightmare with Office. I purchased a pair of leather boots just before xmas. I only wore them around 6 times, when around mid January I noticed that the salt/grit that had been around due to the snow melted the boots - yes melted and left a clear line where you could see the degredation of the leather! I had put on some clear wax polish to protect before handbut it didn't make a difference.
When I took the boots into the store they said that they would have to sent to head office for assessment - what a waste of time and money (plus what am I to do without my boots for the 10 days that they took to come back??). The manager is the shop also said that boots aren't designed to be waterproof!! I was hardly wading in a river, and as it rains so much in this country, you think they would be stuffed with that argument.....
I received my boots back this morning and a letter stating that this is accidental damage, and that 'you cannot put a life span on a shoe'. What a joke, I only wore them for 3 weeks, and not even everyday.
Trying to work out if there is anything else that I can do. This hs definately left a bad taste in my mouth, and doubt I will be buying anymore shoes from them.0 -
I bought 2 pairs of boots from Office website for myself and my daughter last month. They were only £10 each but I still expected them to be wearable. They were a joke, the soles were so hard they had no bend in whatsoever and no sign of wearing in either. I took them back to the Worcester store on 30th Jan and was told they would refund my money (as purchased online) but that the money would take 8-10 days to show in my account. I am still waiting for it!! I have emailed them today and have been told they have now processed my refund and I have to wait a further 3-5 days. What a joke!!!! It seems like they have only processed my refund on the prompt of my complaint, I wonder how long I would've had to wait if I hadn't complained. I certainly won't be buying from them again!!!! :mad:0

I have a slightly different dilemma - I purchased a pair of boots online during the "Big Freeze", but when they arrived the style of the shoe was such that they squashed my feet at the front. I didn't have a problem with the refund itself - as I was unable to go into a shop, I paid an exorbitant amount of money in P&P to ensure that the shoes arrived by Special Delivery the day after I sent them. A few days later I called the helpline to check on the status, and was told that the shoes had arrived, but the returns process would take 10-14 WORKING DAYS!!! I have never seen such a long timeframe for online refunds. Asos.com will and have refunded items and credited the money back on my card within 5 working days!
Anyway, I accepted the 14 working day policy and waited it out. Did not hear a single word from Office Shoes with regards to my order. Today, 24 DAYS since I sent the shoes back, I called Office again. The lady informed me that the money had been credited to my card 3 days ago! And yet I have not even received an email confirming this! I asked her why, and she said it wasn't in their T&C, and that I would find out the money has come in when my statement comes through! But what happens if the money is refunded at the beginning or immediate end of the month?! I have to wait 30 days for my statement to come before I can be sure that the refund has gone through?!! Absolutely ridiculous and shoddy customer service! I am writing a formal letter of complaint - whether it works or not is another issue. I have received my money back so it's not about that but I am furious that a branded high street retailer is allowed to get away with this! To anyone who's written a letter of complaint to Office Shoes, is there a particular person/department you have addressed it to? I'll probably have to send it to their Sales & Help emails, as I cannot find any one else on their website. Any ideas?0 -

why take the chance? If there's any element of doubt that they might not want them ask what they really want rather than risk being unable to get a refund.:hello:
