I think the policy of some high street shops (M&S, Next etc) where they will give a full refund if you change your mind after you've got the goods home (e.g. shoes don't match a handbag or you just decide it doesn't look good on you) has led to some people to erroneously EXPECT that same service from every other shop.

Maybe it should be like that in every shop..! Then I will be a happy bunny!

But it ISN'T like that in every shop, when purchasing something you are accepting the terms of the shop in relation to returning goods because 'you don't really like them when you've got them home' or 'they don't fit properly'.
And if the policy of that shop is NO REFUND, then that's what you get - as long as the law stays as it is.

Maybe instead of railing at shops who don't do refunds, we should be grateful that some shops 'go that extra mile' and give customers more than the law says they have to.
  • Yes I am grateful to those shops that go the extra mile... hence why I will not be shopping at Office again as they do not deserve my money!

A credit note is fair, as there is physically nothing wrong with the shoes.

Think of it this way; you now get to spend £90 on shoes for yourself. YAAAAAAAY!!!

    Oh, you're a man.

    Never mind.

  • [SIZE=+1]I don't recommend anyone to buy at Office shoes.

Their shoes are not comfortable and obviously you need more than the 15 min spent to the shop to really evaluate how uncomfortable they are.
When you bring them back, they don't give you your money back!
They give you a "gift" card to buy other crap shoes.
Even if you try to have your money back, or at least be able to use the card online, or even to be able to order the shoes you might want, they just useless and the customer service won't help at all.

What's the point to continue going to waste your money to people who obviously don't give a !!!! of their customers?

If it's credit crunch, I want to use my money for valuable goods and services!

DO NOT BUY AT OFFICE SHOES!

  • I cannot agree more with the previous post. I am also having a terrible experience with this retailer so would like to warn everyone to think carefully before buying from them. I was looking online for pair of shoes beginning of January and found their website which looked good. I placed an order and received it a little later than expected but that wasn't a problem. The shoes were slighly big so I emailed them straightaway to inform them that I would like to exchange it. I didn't get any reply for a week. I then looked for other email addresses on their website, e.g. orders, sales, customerservice, etc and copied everyone of them. I finally got a response which looked like a standard reply. I posted the item back as described by first class recorded delivery. After a week I didn't get any reply so I emailed them again but still no answer. It has now been two weeks and I am completely fed up as I haven't heard back from them at all not even an email to acknowledge receipt! And it's not like it's a busy time of the year.

If there is any chance that you may return an item DON'T BUY FROM OFFCICE.CO.UK as they have a complete disregard of distant selling regulations and their customers.

If there was, it would not matter what signs were up. Any signage or wordings purporting to restrict a consumer's rights are ineffective (and an offence).

I think what's happened here is that people have paraphrased the notice, so it appears to do someone out of their rights.

I won't be shopping there. Their returns policy is nowhere near being the main reason.
