Parking ticket

Just wondering if this is legal?

I have enclosed a picture of my vehicle that was parked up for sale.

The council say that if i look on page 115 of the highway code under the heading of `along the edge of the carraigeway` it will state i am still parker on double yellow lines

Does anyone here, from a legal point of view, think i am parked on double yellows.

Thoughts greatly apppreciated.

Ah................i dont seem to be able to post a picture....so how do i do that?

Stick the piccy on photobucket, copy and paste the link into your post.

BTW, it is actually an offence to advertise a vehicle for sale at the side or parked on the road, even if it's just a notice in the side window.

I assume it's parked on a verge or wide pavement adjacent to a road with double yellows? If so you are liable for the ticket - been there done that.

Using Council land to advertise cars for sale is also an offence.

OP, as well as pics of the car, you will need to provide pics of the ticket too, if it's from the council (washed of personal details). If it's an FPN from the police, probably no need to.

oh goody! Much of which, be aware, is rubbish! Incorrect terminology and missing/inaccurate or misleading information.

Can i just clarify something though? Is this just parking and if so - does it say so - maybe i missed it?

It looks as though the OP has had a ticket for parking on double yellows, so the fact that it was for sale is, in all likelihood, irrelevant.
  • Even if you are parking on a newly tarred piece of road where the double yellow lines haven't been re-painted yet and there is only a small gap between the sets of lines you may still essentially parking on double yellows.......

Yip, strange as it may sound! If the area between two sections of lines hasn't yet been repainted after roadworks you have to watch. If the outside line doesn't end in a line going towards the pavement and crossing the end of the inside line then you are more than likely at risk of a ticket, even if your wheels aren't actually on the double yellows themselves!
